Guest Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 I would like an ongoing segment of Ricochet interviewing gangs to join him, including Frat House, Gate of Agony, Big Bill and Bryan Keith, and them just all failing him in one way or another before he finds whoever he wants. Quote

It'd be entertaining, so I guess it depends what you think Ricochet's ceiling is as to whether that's the way to go. If you think he's above the TNT Title mix as a World Title challenger who mixes with, albeit loses to, Kenny, Ospreay, Hangman, Swerve, Moxley, etc, then the needs to stay clear but if the TNT Title mix with losers like Paragon is about it for him, then I'd go for it. I don’t think he needs a stable of equals, personally - he needs goons, people who are lower down the rung that he essentially takes advantage of - a bit like Brodie Lee and The Dark Order, except Ricochet is doing it for different reasons. He needs hangers on who admire him for the creep he is. That way, he remains a solo act, but one with company. I think he can be a World Champion - but I think a Pinnacle or Inner Circle type situation would make him feel similar to what we’ve had before. I’m not saying that couldn’t work, of course. I do like @Supremo’s suggestion of Strowman, though. Quote
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted May 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 30, 2025 Strowman is a hard no for me. Just a bloke who is so utterly WWE but is also absolutely finished. So there's not even any intrigue in the act. 7 minutes ago, RedTwoster said: I don’t think he needs a stable of equals, personally - he needs goons, people who are lower down the rung that he essentially takes advantage of - a bit like Brodie Lee and The Dark Order, except Ricochet is doing it for different reasons. I think the suggestion of CRU is probably better, they're more established and Tony clearly likes them enough for them to be in and around the tag titles. Quote

I hate CRU, but the fact Ricochet said he needed ‘a crew’ makes me think that’s the direction of travel. Action Andretti is absolutely dreadful, although Lio Rush has his moments. For me, the reasons you’re not keen on an act like The Frat House accompanying Ricochet is exactly the reason I’m a fan of the idea - I would prefer his stablemates be background players. Part of why Ricochet works for me is that he doesn’t realise what a pathetic tool he actually is. Being accompanied by losers means he doesn’t need to share the spotlight and can put his own interests first. They just exist to make him feel good about himself. I totally understand your logic though, it’s just that I want him to essentially have groupies rather than a formal stable. Quote
digforvictory Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 (edited) Yeah I want Braun Strowman absolutely nowhere near AEW. His knees are shot to pieces, he can barely walk. Plus I can't think of a better example of a guy who would come into AEW and think just because he used to be in WWE he should be the champion and the main guy than him. He'd be another Miro or Malakai Black, longing to go back to WWE whenever he could. Ricochet and Lio Rush in the same stable would lead to some very fun tag matches. Don’t know how true it is but was reading he has 15% paralysis in one of his legs and WWE let him go because of the cost of the contract he was on but that they’ve agreed that he could be brought in & used in the future whenever needed for specific storylines etc. Quote

He’s often forgotten about, but if Keith Lee is recovering well, he might be a good shout. Swerve in their Glory was a great tag team, and you’d have a similar dynamic with the wrestling styles of Lee and Ricochet. Plus Lee has a brilliant theme song that I’d like to hear much more of. Paid Members BomberPat Posted May 30, 2025 Paid Members Posted May 30, 2025 I don't think Strowman is remotely an option; he was released by WWE before and AEW seemingly never went anywhere near him, I can't see it being any different this time around now that he's physically in worse condition, has half the star power he had on the first go-around, and AEW are a little more gun-shy on just picking up anyone released by WWE, particularly someone like him who would never be a good fit for them anyway. Ricochet either needs a big fucker he can hide behind, or two little stooges to run interference for him. If they try and do an alliance of equals with him, it won't work with his gimmick - though his promo pretty clearly made it out that he's looking for lackeys, so I don't think there's any concerns there. Chili Posted May 30, 2025 Posted May 30, 2025 (edited) Mariah May has been removed from the AEW website which is usually a sign of something. Gonna be amazing when she debut's on that counter programming NXT show they've got coming up. Good luck to her though, really enjoyed her AEW run as a character in the Toni story. Almost like a modern territory run or something. One more... For the underdogs. Edited May 30, 2025 by Chili Quote

You’re probably right about her starting on NXT, but it seems like an enormous waste given how good she is. I’m really disappointed to see her leave AEW though. She was a key part of elevating their women’s division to where it is now, and WWE feels so tepid right now. They’ll have another hot spell I’m sure, but it feels miles away at the moment. Good luck to her though, she’s incredibly talented. Quote
