deathrey Posted February 5 Posted February 5 (edited) Yeah I did enjoy it. Honestly, whilst it isn't at the top of my list, I would love to go back one day. Going out in the day time on the strip was so strange as it was practically deserted in comparison to how busy it was in the evenings. Edited February 5 by deathrey Quote

I absolutely get it, it is not for everyone and is definitely an acquired taste. I know people that go year after year, every chance they get. That's baffling to me. We went for a couple of days at the end of a holiday to California, we had no interest in Vegas but it was the best base for the Grand Canyon. The Canyon was incredible (and served one of the best lunches I’ve ever had) so I don’t regret staying there, but Vegas was 100% completely not for us. Like you, I cannot understand people who go again and again. By our final day we’d found the nearest cinema and spent the day watching The Wild Robot to kill some time until we could be not in Vegas anymore. North East specific reference - Mrs HG compared the Strip and the overall look of everything to Metroland. She’s not wrong if you ask me. Grim! Quote
Paid Members FLips Posted February 5 Paid Members Posted February 5 Metroland! Fucking hell. Maybe the worst school trip I ever went on was to see the newly-ish erected Angel of the North with a stop at the Metro Center after to make it sound like it was worth our while. We were allowed to wear what we wanted so I had this horrible synthetic dragon t shirt on, made from the same polyester material as a footy shirt so it had that horrible glidy texture and unique underlying smell to it. It had a dragon on though so I suffered to impress the girls. Up until the age of about 17 I was tremendously travel sick, so after the Angel but before the Metro, we got taken to McDonalds. Naturally I got a burger meal and a strawberry milkshake so not much long after I’m chucking up milkshake back into the cup. Nobody wanted it on the bus obviously but we couldn’t stop, so the teacher opened the side of the minibus and had me throw it out, narrowly missing a woman by about a foot and splattering all over the path in front of her as she yelled Geordie obscenities us. We had no tissues so I had to clean my face and shirt with newspaper which because of the wet sick it just transferred ink all over my face. So we get to the Metrocentre, ink all over my face and sick all over my dragon t shirt. HMV or whatever DVD shop (maybe Virgin?) IDs me for a Family Guy DVD and being 13 with no ID I get turned away. Later we go to Metroland before we have to go home and the rollercoaster was out of order so I’m just walking about stinking of sick in semi-blackface that wouldn’t wash off in the toilets. Not a single lass complimented my top. Absolute waste of time. 2nd worst trip was when we stayed at a hut in Carlisle and I forgot my belt so had to take the laces from the one pair of shoes I took and go bowling with my shoelace holding my jeans up like a hobo. On the way home the lass sat next to me asked to share my walkman but quickly handed it back when she put the headset on to Kurt Angle’s theme song on WWF The Music Volume 5 and didn’t speak to me again the rest of the drive home. Paid Members Thunderplex Posted February 5 Paid Members Posted February 5 It’s on my bucket list, looks a crazy place! My sister went about 10 years ago on a hen do. The group of girls were approached by a little person (which I believe is the correct term although my friend who has dwarfism prefers dwarf, so hope neither offends) dressed as Elvis asking if they wanted their photo taken with him for $10. They agreed and as they were posing, the chap decided to put his hand up my sisters skirt and grab her arse. According to her friends she kicked him in the balls so hard it lifted him off the ground. The police were on it like a shot and she was terrified that she was going to get arrested, but seemingly he had form for doing this previously so was locked up himself. Quote

Rockbus2 Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Despite being a massive fan of Andy Kaufman I've never seen Taxi before so giving it a watch through. Marilu Henner as Elaine has a wonderful 70s charm. She's in her 70s now and still as attractive. Quote
