It shouldn’t count because the title was meaningless, but they billed the ECW title as the third world championship so that means technically the Hardy’s are also in that category. 

Edit: Also, The Miz and Morrison, again with the WWECW championship.

This wasn’t true, at the time. Including the aforementioned Broken Mirrors, there were also Edge & Rey, Rey & RVD and Benoit & Jericho who won tag titles in WWE before both going on to win World titles.

Turns out Twitter lied to me. Who would've thought?!

I don't think the original stat covered the ECW world title because nobody wants to live in a world where Matt Hardy is a former world champion.

But would it count as Benoit won the world title in WCW. I know we are talking WWE, but the stat seemed that it was first time world championship win.

Did Jericho win the title before his team with Christian?

EDIT: Yes, yes he did. He won the wCw title during the Invasion, so that would've been before.

A weird one popped in my head yesterday about the most decades a wrestler has appeared at Wrestlemania. For clarity I'm referring to decades in the sense 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's, 20's.

 

There's quite a few 3 decade instances these days - Cena, Austin, HHH, Kane to name a few

But I could only think of 2 people which definitely fit the bill in the Rock - 90's, 00's, 10's, 20's and more surprisingly Shane McMahon - 99 vs X Pac, 02 Vs Vince, 16 Vs Taker and 22 Vs Strowman. I forgot the Strowman match and was going to count his run in to face the Miz last year but that match never got started. 

I have one other  "technically" - Big Show 90's, 00's, 10's and 20's if we include his cameo match Vs Drew at Wrestlemania 36 at 2020.

Are there any more with a Wrestlemania match in 4 decades or even 5 that I've forgotten?

 

EDIT - Taker as well with 90's, 00's, 10's and 2020 vs AJ styles so that's again for me a technical win as that was a taped cinematic match.

HBK fits, with the Rockers at V in 1989, plenty in the 90s and 00s then his last match ever ever ever at 26 in 20010

Depends on if you're talking about "appearances" or matches. If it's just "appearances", then Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan have both done five decades. I think Jimmy Hart has too. Probably several others.

For matches, I'm going to do some stats-crunching and figure this one out.

I was specifically thinking of matches, the only requirement was that a bell rung and a pinfall, submission, dq, countout ended it making it an official match in the history books.

Okey dokey. I've got a hundred and one things to do today, and there's no motivator quite like procrastination, so I've done some number-crunching.

I've counted up everyone that I would consider having competed in a match at Wrestlemania. That is anyone who is in the match itself bell-to-bell, so that doesn't include managers, seconds or run-ins, but it will include any situation where someone is added to a match after it begins - that covers Money In The Bank cash-ins, Spike Dudley winning the Hardcore Title at Wrestlemania X8 in a match he wasn't in, or Snoop Dogg subbing in for Shane McMahon. I have also, fairly arbitrarily, included special guest referees and "enforcers", though will provide a caveat where that matters.

I have only included the Wrestlemania card itself. That means no dark matches, no pre-shows, no Sunday Night Heat, and no Drew McIntyre vs. The Big Show.

 

First, some stats.

 

443 people have competed in matches at Wrestlemania, plus an additional five who only appeared as special guest referees without ever wrestling on any Wrestlemania card - they are Muhammad Ali, Pat Patterson, Larry Young, Mike Tyson and Bruce Hart.

The Top 5 Most Wrestlemania Appearances are:

5. Kane (16)
4. Shawn Michaels (18)
3. Randy Orton (19)
2. Triple H/Hunter Hearst Helmsley (23)
1. The Undertaker (27)

Kane, Triple H and The Undertaker all made their first Wrestlemania appearances in the '90s. Undertaker is the only one of the three to hit three decades, from 1990 to his final match in 2020.

Shawn Michaels also hits three decades, as his first Wrestlemania was in 1989, his last in 2012.

 

Bret Hart, with 13 total Wrestlemania matches, hits three decades - his first 'Mania was in 1986, he then wrestled at every 'Mania between then and 1997, and returned in 2011 to get his third decade.

Hulk Hogan is on three decades - '80s, '90s and '00s.

Steve Austin is on three decades - '90s, '00s and '20s, and is on four decades if we choose to count him working as guest referee for Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler in 2011.

Roddy Piper gets three decades - '80s, '90s and '10s, thanks to the Chris Jericho legends gauntlet match

Some others on three decades:

Also, wasn't Sid's WM debut the main of VIII? Same for Flair - even though it was further down the card, his match with Savage was billed as a main.
