Sorry for lateness, but I'm back now. Wasn't here from when I made my guessed until Monday night so couldn't have given anyone a nudge to get their picks in even if I'd been keeping track. The results went into the initial post as soon as I returned, but then yesterday the David Squires cartoon (of all things) in The Grauniad alerted me to the fact Man City hadn't actually bagged a fourth against Plymouth which affected two people's scores in the updated table. In my defence I didn't catch that game live but you know, Cottbus vs Osnabrück was excitement enough for one day.

And I did manage to see highlights of my D2D match on Sportschau as well which went as everybody else expected. The lowest scorers in the top flight shockingly didn't score and could only muster a couple of half-chances. Two second-half goals gave Dortmund the win and meant all six people who posted on time took home two bonus points apiece. The randomly selected "wildcard" game was another dud, this time tie #1 at Dean Court which fell victim to the spate of penalty shootouts over the weekend that understandably few players foresaw. Bring back replays!

Among the outcomes with actual decisive victors, triumphs for Celtic and the aforementioned Man City both proved generally good for one-pointers, but a comfortable margin of success for Leverkusen and narrow progress for Hibs and Brighton turned out to be more difficult to predict for most participants.

Was gonna do yet another D2D this weekend, but we've had half a dozen in a row so we can put them on the backburner for now and start to chalk off the last three at the end of the month, after the international break/FPL Cup quarter-finals. Instead let's enjoy the first of two gimmick-free rounds in a row, starting in the first post in just a moment...

Shoot, since you were so quick off the mark it made me realise I completely neglected to mention how everybody did last week. You were top scorer and would've got even more points had it not been for an injury-time equaliser by The Cards to avoid an upset in Oxford. Right, let's do it properly this week. The final scores have been in the original post since Monday night, and the table's been updated now too. Slightly better scoring despite the absence of Bent Wookie again. We hope he's all right. Rory closes the gap on him to two points or, if he's giving up, to ten from Stinky. At the top, joint best performer ultimo is still a baker's dozen behind TildeGuy and in fact there's no movement whatsoever although lowest scorer Chutney Spoon did his best to try to fall at least one place.

No bonuses since no D2D this time, and because for the fourth round in a row, the randomly selected "wildcard" fixture was a dud. Match #7 was the cup tie at Boreham Wood, with the away win catching everybody out. Elsewhere, victories for Brighton, Palace, Liverpool and PSG generally proved fruitful. Success on the road for Villa and Lyon turned out more of a mixed bag of guesses, as did a score draw at Old Trafford alongside progress for the men from Perth but an exit at home for the women's side.

One last ordinary round, then, before 2026 World Cup qualifiers begin in earnest the following weekend. Make the most of it while you can by checking the opening post in a few ticks.
