Oof, Stinky didn't half cut it fine with that post at 2:59pm! This feels like a good time to remind everyone that next week's update should arrive on Tuesday night, and that for the following Easter double round, Friday (and Saturday lunchtime) matches are fair game. Don't say you haven't been warned. 

Anyway, the final scores were up in the original post last night, and the table has since been updated too. Quite a low-scoring week with nobody into double figures even though the entire field managed at least one three-pointer. No change among the bottom duo, the gap at the summit is closed but by just a single point, while the only movement involved joint best performer Chutney Spoon moving back ahead of me.

He was helped by the sole bonus awarded this time out, for guessing that the Portuguese clash would involve an away win of some sort even though it ended up more comfortable for Benfica than anyone foresaw. That's because the random number generator threw out #8 as the randomly selected 'wildcard' encounter.

The real drama came in the FPL Cup as ultimo overcame Tilde to avenge the group stage outcome and make a Double a slightly smaller possibility. Meanwhile, MVP RULZ is now in danger of pulling off a Denmark '92 and winning the whole thing having been eliminated but then given a reprieve. In a higher-scoring tie, he edged out Rory by a solitary point, thereby also gaining revenge for a pool phase loss. 

Elsewhere, defeats for The Lionesses and Eintracht Frankfurt caught most people out, whereas victories for Germany's women plus Palace, Wolves and Villa's men were generally good for correct guesses at least. Exact scorelines might've proved tougher to come by, with a score draw at The London (Olympic) Stadium and stalemates at Lionel Road and Old Trafford leading to more of a mixed bag of picks.

The results made it into the opening post while it was just about still Sunday night. The table's also been updated now and we have a new leader! Tilde was actually level with ultimo a couple of months ago, then moved 17 points clear a few weeks later (and I was resigned to there being no real title race this year just like in the EPL) but suddenly now finds himself two points behind. Without the D2D which we'll get to, ultimo would've been joint top scorer alongside Rory who also made double figures.

Since the worst performer was Stinky Dad, that means just three points separate the bottom two so we've also potentially got a genuine contest to avoid the wooden spoon too. It's like all our Christmases have come at once... except it's actually Easter, meaning you'd be wise to get your next lot of picks in before 15:00 this Friday instead of leaving it till later. Oh, and while we're on housekeeping matters, the 2025-26 schedule is shaping up nicely with men's World Cup qualifiers & MLS already added, plus a possible grand return of a long-forgotten bonus point gamble.

Speaking of bonuses, the randomly selected 'wildcard' fixture was match #3 this time out, Saints v Villa. Despite the visitors' woes following European outings this season, they eventually got the job done against their hapless hosts. Most people rightly went for an away win, with the late flurry of goals earning ultimo, Rory and Chutney Spoon two extra points each for an exact scoreline.

The last of those also got his D2D right as Leyton Orient came from a goal down to win comfortably in Sussex. Was hoping Crawley could get something to push a certain Team from North of the River Avon™ into the relegation zone but luckily The Brewers took care of that anyhow. Five people incorrectly disagreed with Tim Healy's cutlery, earning him ten more points. All that means MVP RULZ slips a place and will probably now have to hope he's on good form on Cup Final weekend to salvage a consolation prize from this campaign.

Elsewhere, victories for Wolves, Newcastle Utd and Monaco were generally good for one-pointers, but an overdue home reverse for Forest, a rare point for The Foxes and progress for the holders in the Women's Cup caught most people out. A stalemate at Fir Park in which both teams contrived to miss out on the Top Six, alongside a score draw at The (Munich) Allianz Arena, produced a mixed bag of guesses.
