Fog Dude Posted April 30, 2025 Author Posted April 30, 2025 Apologies for the delay this week. In a rare grown-up moment, I had to wait around to get a new washer/dryer installed this evening. Anyhoo, the final scores went into the opening post on Sunday night as usual, and the table has since been updated too. MVP RULZ didn't get the memo that it wasn't a double round anymore as he went and nabbed a whopping 21 points, with only one incorrect guess out of ten. That moves him back above Chutney Spoon by the narrowest of margins with both on the Sparta points total. Even last-placed Stinky has moved onto a respectable quarter-thousand points but has chances of catching Rory have diminished since he's now a full dozen points adrift. At the summit, ultimo closes the gap on Tilde back down to seven points, meaning it might not be too late to turn a procession back into a title race yet. As things stand I've got very few notes for Week 40 so I don't know how many points will be up for grabs in the final 'bumper' round any more than they do. Bonuses this time out went to the three people who got the scoreline from Wembley on Sunday spot on, as match #2, Man City v Forest, was the randomly selected "wildcard" fixture. Elsewhere, wins for Newcastle, Fulham, Wolves and Liverpool men plus Rangers women all proved fruitful to make it a high-scoring week. On the other hand, victories for Palace and Auckland caught most people out, while a score draw at Dean Court and a five-goal thriller in the Copa del Rey final ended up with more of a mixed bag of picks. Feels like I haven't had a reason to mention mid-table Vegeta all month and now that I do, it's because he was the worst performer this time around. Hard luck there mate! Speaking of the end of the month, even though it's still April as I type, in a few hours (as N*SYNC once sang) it's gonna be May. So, it doesn't feel too early for us to hold the FPL Cup Final. That'll therefore form part of the next card at the top of the thread in just a tick. Quote

Fog Dude Posted May 5, 2025 Author Posted May 5, 2025 Full round-up on its way Wednesday evening as usual, but if I've done my maths right, then regardless of tonight's score from Selhurst Park ultimo the great already has an unassailable lead over MVP RULZ for the week. That means the former has won this season's FPL Cup so congrats to him. He of course did better in the group stage too, continues a great record in that competition since it was introduced and still has a chance of The Double. Right, brief interim update over. Anyway, the final scores went into the original post on Monday night, and the table has now been updated too. In a low-scoring round, ultimo was in fact the top scorer albeit with a far from unassailable eight points. Tilde still leads, but the gap at the summit is now down to just three, while at the other end Rory was the worst performer to give Stinky a glimmer of hope at avoiding the wooden spoon. The only movement involves poor old Vegeta slipping a place in the middle of the pack. Once again the randomly selected 'wildcard' fixture was match #2 between two relegated sides in the East Midlands. Strangely enough, nobody got the exact scoreline of 2-0 to Leicester right but half the field did at least manage the correct result. Elsewhere, score draws at Brighton, Palace and Rangers plus a stalemate in San Sebastián produced a mixed bag of guesses. A ridiculous 2-0 away win for Everton (if you check the stats) in the women's Merseyside derby caught everyone out, as did the failure of their men's team to beat a relegated club at home. Success for Bournemouth and a triumph for Chelsea against the champions also turned out to be tough to foresee, with just Barcelona's win on the road generally proving fruitful. The last D2D of the season will form part of a muddled set of 10 in the initial post shortly. Quote
