Members SuperBacon Posted August 5, 2024 Members Posted August 5, 2024 Right we've covered the King of Pop, but what about the Queen of Pop? There is genuinely about 20 songs which could all be in with a shout, but for me it's Like A Prayer. It's such a massive pop song, it just sounds huge and bombastic or whatever. Her late 90s resurgence stuff is in with a shout as well, as well as her very early stuff, and as an outside choice I'd also have Cherish which is just a really pretty song. Over to you all, and there is such a huge selection to choose from. Oh god, some wronguns gonna say Die Another Day aren't they? Quote

If the thread was worst Bond song, then yes. If it was best Bond song, the correct answer is Another Way to Die by Alicia Keys and Jack White. Quote
Merzbow Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 William Orbit gave her what might be his best instrumental and that sure helps but it's a perfect mix of both artists. Quote
Cousin Jim Bob Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Very hard to choose just one tbh. Her Immaculate Collection greatest hits is just banger after banger. Quote

Even if she stopped there it would've been a fantastic cannon of songs. The fact she went and added a shitload more AFTER shows how brilliant she is. Quote
Paid Members TheBurningRed Posted August 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 5, 2024 La Isla Bonita for me. Her voice on Papa Don’t Preach is fantastic though. Also partial to Frozen. Underrated song imo. Beautiful Stranger should’ve been her Bond song. Quote
Dr. Alan Grant Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 I’m partial to sad songs that make me want to curl into a ball. This ticks all the boxes. Quote
cobra_gordo Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 It's In To The Groove. Not only the best Madonna song, arguably my favourite pop song ever and hands down the best song about locking your door and rubbing one out. Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Just scrolling down this and seeing the videos you can see how much of a chameleon she was, setting and following trends. As said, Immaculate Collection is full of her best. Ray of Light is probably her best fully matured album, with The Power of Good-Bye being especially good. I've got to go with the song that would've made me fall in love with her, Material Girl. Quote
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted August 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 5, 2024 (edited) It’s like a prayer. But outside of that, Oh Father, Human Nature, Take a Bow are all amazing. But there’s something about this song that makes me feel like I’m walking through a daydream that makes me smile every time. Like a Prayer is almost perfect as an album, very little filler, pretty much all killer. Edited August 5, 2024 by Hannibal Scorch Quote
Paid Members Sergio Mendacious Posted August 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 5, 2024 It's Borderline, for me. Love a bit of post-disco. Quote
Paid Members John Matrix Posted August 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 5, 2024 Absolutely no contest as far as I’m concerned though it shows the range when there’s so many posts and so little duplication. But for me it’s got to be this little number… Quote
