poetofthedeed Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Samoa joe completely destroying all the lore behind Necro/Joe and revealing he only took the booking to fuck his girlfriend was the highlight of a fairly solid episode, you could probably do an entire season on Necro butcher. Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted July 23 Paid Members Posted July 23 (edited) I don't usually watch this show but made a point of checking this one out because I love Joe vs Necro. Brilliant episode. Samoa Joe being so aloof about the whole thing was the clear highlight - months of online fan buzz and he just rocks up to the show like it's just any other booking completely unaware of all of it really made me laugh. I liked seeing Joe give Necro all the credit as the match was his vision and he laid the whole thing out. It was interesting to hear both men discussing the psychology of the match too. Samoa Joe is the best. Coolest wrestler of all time. Edited July 23 by LaGoosh Quote
Paid Members I Bent My Wookie Posted July 24 Paid Members Posted July 24 I saw a Facebook post where it was along the lines of if DSOTR did more 1 match episodes what would come to mind and the main one for me would be Perry Saturn vs Mike Bell and the path Saturn went down following that match/his release/his years in the wilderness. As someone who has the rare accomplishment of being a champion at some level in WWE, WCW and ECW plus his history in the business I think he'd make for an excellent episode. Quote

Outside of the Joe / Daniels / Styles triple-threat it's probably my favourite TNA thing ever. Oh Shell Yeah! Deep Sea Chill Shark Boy! Quote
Chili Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Here's the Boss Man episode that aired yesterday. A nice career overview with some great insight from his family. The clips of him being a proper lovely Dad with his little girls was a bit difficult. Incredible we lost him at only 41. You'd be hard pressed to find fans that outright hated The Big Boss Man in his peak run, what an amazing cartoon character for the time. Quote
Ironic Indie Lad Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I found the Boss Man episode to be really emotional at times. Maybe its because I have a little girl, maybe it's because my wife is currently struggling with her own fathers death. The family bits were a tough watch. I cannot imagine being away from my daughter that much then finally coming home and thats it. Dead at 41. Jim Cornette was great on this one. Quote
davertfnewman Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I think it would be very relatable for a lot of people because if you take the wrestling costume away from Ray Traylor then he would mix in with a lot of ordinary people. Big guy, met his wife in high school, married her and started a family with her, was working two jobs to make ends meet, had a problem with substance abuse, split off from and then rejoined the family, had a medical emergency at home. I can think of a couple of different people who some or most of those apply to that I know. Quote
Ironic Indie Lad Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Amazing how things change. He really felt like a total relic in 1998 when he came back to the WWF. When he died he was younger than todays entire main event scene. Quote
RoryT Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Fair play to him for coming back in the Attitude era. He wasn't quite the same, but still a memorable character during those Corporate Ministry days. Quote
The Gaffer Posted July 30 Posted July 30 (edited) I always feel really happy for him when I think of his Attitude Era run. The quality of his output hardly mattered. He was pretty much sharing scenes with the owner of the company and the hottest star on the planet sometimes multiple times a show on a weekly basis. He had it made. JoeManco7 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 (edited) When I started becoming obsessed with pro-wrestling, it was around the time of the Big Boss Man's babyface peak - 1991/92, so he will always be a legend to me. When I was checking on Youtube for the Perfect vs. Bossman Wrestlemania 7 match, it showed up a random match that is a sort of mix of WWF eras: The Undertaker doesn't qualify for this because it was 1991 when he worked with Hogan, but was there any other heel that worked programs in the WWF with the top drawing babyface superstar of the 1980s (Hulk Hogan) and 1990s (Steve Austin) in those decades except the Big Boss Man? Chico Torres Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I’m sure those of us who watched WWF during the glory years all agree that the Boss Man was awesome but I still feel that he’s not only under appreciated for how great he really was but also what a prodigy he was. The best feud the WWF ever had was Hogan vs Savage and the Twin Towers played a key role in the story when the megapowers exploded. He was only 25 when that happened and 26 when he had the great matches with Hogan and then turned babyface in early 1990. He had his character down perfectly, nasty heel and kept his edge as a babyface, he was always ready to drop the metal ball on a jobber or use his handcuffs and nightstick, he didn’t become a watered down goodie smiling and slapping hands with fans on his way to the ring when he turned. And as a worker he was a great big man, agile but knew how to use his size (and he was huge at his peak), great punches and very confident in the ring, especially for someone so young and didn’t have that much experience, most of his time before in the NWA he was Cornettes bodyguard. When you think of the top characters when WWF became huge here he was in the top 5 and always over, it’s always surprising that he was in his mid to late 20s during that epic run. Quote
davertfnewman Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Boss Man and Earthquake were in their mid-twenties when they were having feuds with Hogan that went almost a year and across multiple pay-per-views, neither having the problems a Mason Rook would have. Quote
Chili Posted July 30 Posted July 30 My mind is probably forgetting someone but is Boss Man the only star who got runs during peak Hulkamania, WCW during its peak and at Attitude Era? Quote
