andrew "the ref" coyne
So little niggle from Dynamite. They do a segment with Daniel Garcia, and he specifically states he's gunning for the International Title. And it annoyed me because... why? Like, why not the TNT belt, or the Continental belt? They all mean the damn same thing anyway. Why limit to just one mid card belt when they all have equal weighting. Couldn't he of just said "I plan on winning a championship soon"? It's a nit pick I know, but really shows the issue with too many belts with zero identity. Edited May 30 by andrew "the ref" coyne
Paid Members air_raid Posted May 30 Paid Members Share Posted May 30 TV Time just reminds me of one of my least favourite “little things” of wrestling ever - when Tony Chimel used to introduce a match as “this contest is scheduled for one fall with TV time remaining.” Um… thanks for reminding me it’s getting on and you might just go off the air without a finish. Might as well just announce “one fall or until DX interfere and it all breaks down into a big show closing schmozz.” Double galling on the taped Raws where “TV time remaining” is as long as you need when the show can be tightened up in the edit. And what about the live crowd? The match should carry on even if you run out of “TV time.” Baffling bit of presentation.

DavidB6937
Too many random faces for me. Forbidden Door generally ends up being a great PPV in itself but I hate the overuse of random talent turning up, half of which I definitely have no clue who they are. This is always the worst run up to a PPV every year.
Paid Members Supremo Posted May 30 Paid Members Share Posted May 30 (edited) I had an absolute blast with it. Especially once Ospreay’s music hit and the whole place stood up, went mental, and never sat back down. It’s taken them years of messing around and tinkering with the format, but I think they’ve finally nailed it. Just wild, insane, lightning-paced fun. I’m already looking forward to the next one. Even the way the entrances are randomly timed. No downtime. No waiting around. No dull, predictable rhythm. Just send them out as and when you need more chaos. Shout out to the daft idea that there are guys still sitting in the back, who didn’t even get a chance to enter because the pinfall ended the match before their entrance. What stupid, silly brilliance. Imagine the day they do one and Hangman returns. I’ll do a moonsault off the couch. Other than that blistering main event, and the extremely bold choice of going with Swerve vs. Ospreay for the belt at Forbidden Door, the other highlight of this show was Okada being Okada, doing Okada things. He gives Nick Jackson a run for his money for how funny he is. Literal decades of people being unable to handle or quell, “CM Punk,” chants, and Okada banters them off with ease. One single, “shut up, bitches!” and the whole crowd is laughing and chanting his name. His reaction to the new car was a masterpiece, too. The hammy celebration, only to instantly return to resting bitch face. Art. However many millions he’s making, it’s still a bargain. Love him. Factotum
This felt like the show when Okada fully became the star he was in Japan in AEW. Just absolutely brilliant. Bloke looks fantastic as well. Enjoyable fast and wild show. I'm all for it.

He'll need the big belt and to break several records with the big belt and be presented as the best champion the company has ever had for that to be true. Ospreay isn't walking out of Forbidden Door as a two times champion. But I can see a rematch at All In happening already. Chris Daniels has been there since the beginning, and yet still managed to announce a match for Friday Night Dynamite not Rampage. FGS Chris. Feels like there would be a shit ton of options for Forbidden Door and the Ospreay match wouldn't need to be a rematch at All In, if they wanted to do it there. I mean he looked like a proper star. He doesn't need to retread the same stuff he did to look like a star because he already did that. Yeah I don't think they do that rematch that quickly. I can see Swerve winning an absolute banger of a match, and Ospreay being distracted until further down the line when he wins it

Otherwise, you run into two problems. 1 - Why would you schedule a match with so little TV time remaining? 2 - The sheer coincidence that every match finishes within minutes of the end of the TV show. There are already issues with presenting a fake sport as real and this is, to my mind, an elegant solution.

I didn't think originally it was a mess up, don't they sometimes change Dynamite around based off the NBA playoffs?
