CM Punk chat

There are plenty of people in the AEW locker room that have done legitimate fight training, some who have fought competitively. Punk having had a couple of MMA fights obviously makes him a better fighter than most people, but this isn't about him vs. randoms in the pub, it's him in a high-end wrestling locker room. Particularly in reference to Kenny, who has more jiu-jitsu fights under his belt than Punk does, and who actually won some of them.

My point was that Punk is far from a 180lbs chump that Tony Khan shouldn't be afraid of. Punk losing his temper and throwing a tantrum backstage isn't like Jack Perry throwing a hissy fit or another wrestler being upset. Like him or not, we're talking about someone who not only knows how to hurt people but who is seemingly just enough of a prick to actually do it.

That's a factor that most people don't think about. There's having a bit of MMA training back in the day and perhaps knowing how to avoid getting into altercations and using it to avoid trouble or even compete at a low level, then there's the type of person who has that training and is just a bellend who has no qualms hurting someone to protect their "rep" in the locker room.

I'd definitely throw Punk into the latter category from what I've read. And that always makes that type of person a little more dangerous and unpredictable to be around. Punk just seems like a nasty, vindictive person. It's not a good combination.

The overriding message is that AEW just wasn't a good fit for the CM Punk of 2022/23. It may have been different had he been the young guy who left ROH back in the day, but he's seemingly too old, beaten up, and just straight-up cranky for the company now.

He could be a good fit for WWE. I actually think he'd be a better fit today than he was when he left. The structure and corporate professionalism, if you can call it that, would likely suit his personality now. Which is ironic, considering he railed against that kind of environment back in the day.

It's just a case now of if both sides want it. People online seem to assume that he'll be looking to get back in the ring, but he's in his mid 40's now. He may just call it a day and go back to his comic books, wife, dog and hockey. He's earned his money. He may not need it at this stage in life.

Weird story. Kevin Owens doesn't like CM Punk at all and is very good friends with the Young Bucks so doubt he would have been keen on that.

The thing with all of this is that it's basically the main thing Punk will be remembered for. He'll forever be seen as the headcase who walked out on WWE then get booted out the door of AEW.

You think? I reckon his infamous "pipe bomb" and the era around that is what he'll be remembered for. He wasn't really active enough in AEW to make much of an impression. Sure, the fans who read the sheets etc will know all about the situation backstage, but that's not a huge number. To most casual wrestling fans he's the guy who was controversial in WWE I think.

I saw something on another forum the other day which made me think.

”People taking a billionaires side over Labor (sic)”

and that is a good point. The buck stops with the people who have the means of production, rather than the producers. Or at least it fucking should. Tony is to blame. And he should be to blame constantly for anything and everything as a Billionaire Nepo Baby.

Nah that's bollocks. You cannot control how someone behaves. You can put things in place, but at the end of the day, the only one who allegedly choked out Jungle Boy was Punk. The only person who allegedly made him lunge at Tony Khan was Punk. You can be in control of the mood or atmosphere that you get at a work place, but the only one who controls their own actions is themselves. He could have taken himself away from the situation, he didn't because he's a twat. The billionaire status is irrelevant.

On the contrary I’d disagree and say it’s further ingrained. A caste system was introduced by the man atop the working pyramid was brought in and the people on the level or two below bit him on the arse. He created his own monster from the caste below.

As expected people watched BTE looking for something to be insulted by with regards to CM Punk.

During a bit Kenny drinks a dark liquid from a bottle with a blue label. Asks what's in this lighter fluid?

Reaction: OMG!! Shots fired at Pepsi Phil. No wonder he's outta there working with children!!

Except its not a pepsi bottle, doesnt even look like cola. The line about lighter fluid being a reference to Terry Funk accidentally drinking kerosene in Japan.

In fairness, none of the Elite have even glanced in Punk's direction since he came back. Not a whisper, not a comment. Absolutely nothing to set him off. The same can't be said in the other direction.

Yeah but before that...

Mocking the botch clothesline. Using his finisher. Biting an opponent. Coming out to a theme song that was a thinly veiled shot at the man. Vague tweets. Victory laps etc

Honestly none of this excuses Punk AT ALL. But The Elite are fucking children. Who knows what they were like out of the public eye.

Then are no good guys here. Only dickheads.
