DavidB6937 Posted December 4, 2025 Posted December 4, 2025 Yeah, it definitely reminded me more of old school TNA - although arguably he never would've won the belt before. At least he got that far. But still seeing absolutely no benefit in taking it off him so quickly. Quote

I'm not against using established names, ever, it's always a hook and can be fun but if you're going to be a development brand, fucking Kaz and Fandango heading a PPV and a tag team with a combined age of 99 holding your belts isn't it. I think that’s a little harsh on Kaz, especially given we’re in an age where most of wrestling’s stars are the wrong side of 40 whatever the promotion. A TNA mainstay who can still go is hardly Piper/Hogan ‘age in the cage’ stuff. Its a throwaway title defence on a TNA plus show, not PPV. More In Your House than Wrestlemania. Taking the title so soon off Santana was silly (because Dreamer/Delirious) but of all people I don’t hate the idea of Kaz being rewarded with a run. He’s not going to hold it for long is he, given Santana is front and centre of all the TNA/AMC publicity I’d expect that the idea is for him to recapture it in front of more eyeballs (possibly on the premiere episode). I also think ‘poor man’s NXT’ is a bit much too. I mean, I’ve never watched NXT or have a clue who any of their scrubs are, but other than Trick Williams winning the world title for a period (who WWE clearly rate), its not like NXT wrestlers have been allowed to ride roughshod over TNA either. Certainly nothing to the extent of that shameful embarassing shit of Tony Khan rocking up with ‘paid ads’ to rip the company while under the proviso that Impact were never to retaliate. Quote
uklaw Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 I’m glad to see that we were not wrong about our initial reaction. I’ve been wide of the mark about a lot recently lol: https://www.bodyslam.net/2025/12/08/tna-talent-reportedly-dont-feel-much-confidence-in-the-creative-as-the-company-heads-to-amc-network-in-january/ Quote
Paid Members garynysmon Posted December 9, 2025 Author Paid Members Posted December 9, 2025 Well they’re bang on. The roster isn’t bad, but if they carry on with the 2025 creative on a TV channel that people actually watch then they won’t stay there long. Quote
Paid Members Hannibal Scorch Posted December 9, 2025 Paid Members Posted December 9, 2025 Santana vs Kazarian announced in a rematch for the debut. Seems obvious to do the switch back on the debut show, drive that interest and give him the win on a big stage. Crunching the numbers though I can’t see how it will work. And by that I mean improve the current position. It looks like it’s 10m a year for 3 years (though no one seems to be 100% sure on that). Weekly TV costs around $500-800k on average to do a live broadcast. And they announced their first 2 episodes will be live. So if the plan is to go live every week, which I don’t think that is the plan but still, that money would be swallowed up. If it’s $30m a year, there would definitely be some money left to bring in some new talent, or at least secure some longer contracts. Also have no idea how AMC and the CW get along. Would CW be ok with NXT talent going over to a rival network? Regardless it’s still great they’re going to get more exposure, but waiting to see how it plays out. Be nice if they could get a UK TV deal again. When they were on Challenge it gave them a huge boost. Quote

Paid Members RedTwoster Posted January 14 Paid Members Posted January 14 It would be great to have three companies in a healthy position, but my goodness that’s an uninspiring card if you’re looking to make a first impression. I genuinely hope it all goes well for them, and maybe they have an ace up their sleeve, who knows? If Chris Jericho really is returning to WWE, I wouldn’t be shocked if they actually allowed him to appear here, confronting AJ Styles and saying nothing more than ‘see you at RAW.’ before walking off. It would go viral benefitting both companies and, and if they really are keen to position TNA as a ‘competitor they control’, then that might be a move worth making. Quote

Paid Members DEF Posted January 16 Paid Members Posted January 16 Thank god for Santana and Kaz. Decent main event being the bright spot. On the one hand it might be funny TNA put on such a magnificently crap first show on AMC but I was genuinely hoping they would show me something. Anything, not like my memory of every bungled TNA show I've ever seen. If anything it's worse. Barely any wrestling and endless laughable promos. Pretty much as low rent as ever. Like a mismanaged NXT. I'm absolutely stunned they didn't put on a X Division banger and instead had crap like Perez Hilton doing the PMS angle from 1998 Raw. As a piece of wrestle crap I was quite amused by it in a way but I can't fathom anyone watching it weekly. The real thing that will get up my bugle is the Konnan's and Bubba's of this world pretending it was brilliant and AEW is in trouble because of it. Quote
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted January 16 Paid Members Posted January 16 It wasn’t very good, with Carlos Silva Triple H-ing himself all over the show. It’s a real shame, as TNA under D’Amore was a very good watch, even with a slightly weaker roster. It was nice to see Sonia Deville make a return though, I’d wanted AEW to sign her when she was released although that obviously didn’t happen. Kazarian/Santana was decent enough, but at that end of the day, it’s Frankie Kazarian. He shouldn’t be your men’s champion in 2026 or, arguably, ever. The veterans TNA have are so low-level that they’d be better off looking for more Leon Slater-types and transitioning towards a younger, fresher feeling roster. What they have to offer right now is pretty minimal. Quote

I didn’t word that well - I agree, but what I meant was a ‘weaker roster’ in general, as in he made the most of what he had. But you’re right, it was a slightly better roster during the D’Amore era. What I mean is that it still wasn’t a particularly inspiring one. Quote
The Gaffer Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Yeah went in with an open mind looking for a new weekly but that was an absolute dose. It looks and feels more energetic than Tony Khan's Thunder 2001 save file but that was about it. Showing the outside of the arena in your opening packages is a WWE-ism that only real works if it's a name arena, surely. You can't be giving me the biblical voice over guy interspersed with dramatic shots of the...Curtis Culwell Center. TNA and ignoring your own historic brand identity and niche when a big opportunity comes. Name a more iconic duo. Quote
