They went public in 1999. Most of the playboy shoots. GGW PPV, The Kat flashing, HLA all happened as a publicly traded company. It was simply chasing the cash from sponsors that changed their approach since most teen boys found actual porn by early/mid 2000s.

To be fair, most of my age of fans were full capable of finding real porn but still went wild for a bit of Trish nipslip or whatever. You always want what you can't have and especially to teenage lads, girls you fancy "off the wrestling" being slightly more nude than normal was often far more appealing than any old Gloria and Mitzi being nasty.

Regardless Mandy Rose has won at life. She's making half a million a month. Fuck her wwe contract and wwe. Long may she chill by the pool with Otis while swimming in money.

Do you think she'll still make that much without carrying the cache of "Mandy off the wrestling?" Sable thought she'd made it when she showed the lot in Playboy and didn't need the machine any more, and Mandy is far from Sable. Without her regular audience, those subs will dry up. So to speak.

This is the thing - OnlyFans (or equivalents) are a game-changer for women in wrestling, because it means they can make considerably more money than they were making from the wrestling, or else demand more money from promotions to make it worth their while. Women are already a minority in most major promotions, and get considerably fewer bookings on the indies than men, so anything allowing them to redress the balance is all good - but I wonder what the longevity of sites like Mandy's is if she's not already in the public eye to draw people in to subscribe in the first place. If she's already making half a million (and if that's public, then that's likely from subscriptions only, so you can add a sizeable chunk on there for private payments and the like too), then she might not be in a hurry to do any unnecessary work to push subscriber numbers up anyway.

But you would think that once she's not on TV/the Network/whatever any more, there would be less people drawn to subscribe to her stuff. But then apparently Jenni Neidhart does very well on OnlyFans, and she doesn't really have any public platform beyond being Nattie's sister, so maybe there's enough of a following for its own sake anyway.

Ā

If Sunny didn't have her personal problems she would have been pretty comfortable off the fansites & conventions.

Thatā€™s virtually having Natties platform to itself, by how often Nattie tweets her pics and I end up seeing them because other wrestling fans are liking them. Not even factoring in the volume of photos of them both.

Could be worse, I suppose. Could be Mick profiting off Noelle.

I suppose the weird thing for me is how hard she worked when she went to NXT to build herself up legitimately and become a really solid act. It never felt like she was doing it for money at that point and that she genuinely did love wrestling, so I'm not quite sure why she would've risked it by doing what she did do. She must have known she was pushing it.

But yes of course she'll be comfortable financially for a while anyway. It just feels like all her hard work and effort was wasted in some ways.

I stand corrected *tips hat*

Totally depends what she does next to stay in the public eye. For all we know shes content to collect the half a million a month, knowing it will eventually die down over time, and focus on her other projects and businesses.Ā

Or maybe she'll go indies / AEW / get into acting to maintain her public presence. Heck she may even go back to wwe in a year for all we know.

She'll be fine.

I guess on the one hand, if the women can cash in on their fame and secure a better income for themselves, great and all women's empowerment to them.

On the other hand, it doesn't exactly help the industry, and particularly women's wrestling, from getting away from the reputation of sleaziness. Ā I think if I was a pro wrestler like, I dunno, Sasha Banks and trying to establish myself as a mainstream star whilst promoting the validity of wrestling, being in the ring with someone also fingering her pussy for money on OnlyFans might feel like something of a retrograde step.

I donā€™t think no longer being a WWE NXT star is really going to hurt. There are plenty of people who didnā€™t have that platformā€”or any platformā€”making mad money on sites like OnlyFans.

If thatā€™s the road she wants to go down, is comfortable with it and finds rewarding, then all the power to her.

Some people are happy to just make their money, treat it wisely, and get out while the getting's good. By the time subscriptions dwindle with her fame it sounds like she'll be set for life if she chooses to be.

But those people didn't have the advantage of wrestling fans watching themĀ to begin withĀ and Mandy has, So it's naive to think her reach (and thus earnings) aren't going to take a hit from losing said platform, just like you wouldn't expect a Lindsay Pelas or whoever not to suddenly get more subs if she suddenly had the boost of tons of TV viewers every week and WWE tweeting every time she did anything.

Yes, and like I say, some of those people have gotten to a point where they are making similar amounts to what Mandy is.Ā I donā€™t think sheā€™s going to end up on the bread line if she continues doing what sheā€™s doing. She can just do what every indy wrestling promoter does and stick ā€œFORMER WWE SUPERSTARā€ on everything.

Quick look at social media she's got 3.4m followers on Instagram, a million on Twitter, and close to a million on Tiktok. She's got an audience of her own. If she leans into doing 'collabs' with other performers and/or leaning into more explicit content can keep her relevant in the world of fansites.

It's not really TV viewers that are driving this. It's the wrestlefap types.

Therein lies the point - the guys wrestling for indy promoters are doing so to a decreased audience, so they're not commanding the viewership or the income they did when the machine was behind them. I don't think the basics of sex appeal for people in the public eye and persuading Joe Public to pay for a sight of the flesh have changedĀ thatĀ much since Sable (or even Chyna) left the WWF thinking they were stars and promptly realizing baring their tits no longer got them as far as when they were on Raw every week. Sable had a very successful Playboy. She had already signed up for a second one before she left. After she left, they only bothered doing one more, which was an outtakes special edition, then they didn't bother getting her back in for the entire time she was gone (thus she got no cash). As soon as she was back with "the machine" they got her and Torrie back in, taking it all off again. She was back on TV so there was interest in seeing her in the nude again.

Like I alluded to in a previous post, part of the appeal of Mandy Rose to her fanbase is not especially that she's a hot girl doing naughty content, when there are hotter girls doing naughtier content, likely at a lower price - but that she IS "Mandy Rose" from the wrestling so for every few fans that have been unsubscribing because they've got bored or don't want to pay every month, as long as she's been in NXT she's been able to pick up new thirsty types along the way. Guys who see her every week and lust after her but pick up on that she has that content available for the first time. It's like sales in any industry at all - you're trying to keep a bucket full, but there's a hole in it, so you're always needing to add more. Now she won't be in NXT, when people unsubscribe, she's got to find new people to jump onboard, without the benefit of the NXT viewership/WWE retweets. The thing about paying for someone's rudey content, unless you're loyal to a particular online content provider where that's their ONLY medium, if you're not exposed to that persons image fairly regularly, its easy to forget about them or move on. As soon as so many guys aren't watching her on NXT and thinking "I wish I could see a bit more... oh wait, I'll pay for it" and she becomes just another provider, I think these guys will tend to move on.

Hope she makes bank and gets out the industry. Diddling yourself or work for a company and industry with a glowing record of female treatment. Keep the freaks subbing in your basement.Ā

I genuinely expect Rhea Ripley to end up going that route... I'm sure others genuinely hope so.Ā
