But I’ve never been able to figure out what this ROH is meant to be, other than Tony Khan just wanting to own the initials and being able to say that he runs the promotion. From the outside it seems to fluctuate wildly from being AEW’s ‘Jakked or Metal’ C-show to sometimes trying to present itself as a standalone show/promotion. But for the latter you surely need an exclusive roster rather than popping on AEW TV with utter fluidity? Given that AEW’s formation cannibalised ROH’s fanbase, does it actually serve any purpose other than technically being able to say that ROH isn’t defunct? Quote
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted March 5 Paid Members Posted March 5 Well when it was first started up they were clearly trying to get a TV deal for it as they had guys like Jericho and Samoa Joe in prominent positions and it was all over AEW TV. When the TV deal never came to fruition it just gradually sunk lower and lower to now it's just a C level show for hardcore fans. Does it serve a purpose? Well, it might be turning a profit for all we know. I doubt it but it's possible. You'd imagine the costs of the show are minimal. I'm not sure why they don't just put it on YouTube and turn it into a full on developmental type thing. At the moment they just dump undercard guys they have no interest on it or older acts that are past their sell by dates like Sammy Guevara where presumably they are just running out their contracts. But also I think Tony Khan has huge affection for ROH and its history and doesn't want it to die out for that reason alone. Quote

I noticed the other day that I'd be able to watch this on MyAEW and thought I might give it a go as I'd imagined RoH to be a place where lots of fun acts I like who don't get any/enough exposure on AEW TV (e.g. Silver & Reynolds, MxM, Mortos) were hiding. Guess not. (Athena is the one who does fit into that category who is actually here. Bandido is obviously grea, and the Rascalz are OK outside the gimmick but they are on AEW plenty). Quote
