The cracks are still very visible though. This was the company where stipulations were supposed to be respected and adhered to, where you could put your trust in what they were selling, and yet here we are with people breaking out of shark cages and interfering in matches they were guaranteed not to interfere in. This was also the contemporary, progressive company, that handled sensitive topics maturely, and yet here we are with people make gay jokes and slagging off dead relatives. I don’t even have a particularly larger point to make. It’s just a bit shit when WWE tropes bleed through like this. Were they always here, but the higher quality of the shows made it less noticeable? I think the booking went on a bit of a noticeable downhill slope as soon as Kenny Omega went off the road due to injuries. Whether that's due to them building up to Hangman/Omega for so long they didn't really plan much for afterwards or that perhaps Omega was more involved in the booking than we thought, I don't know. DavidB6937 Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 I still feel sad about where Hangman is now. And even the Dark Order. I randomly came across that entrance they all did together the other day. Still absolute fucking goosebumps. Same with Hangman's return. And look where we are now. It's a fucking travesty really. Quote

He'll be fine. They've not forgot him. I feel he's going to be apart of something for the autumn. He's too 'that good' to not, plus his mates. I'm excited to hear his fire again. Quote

Its hard to maintain that kind of momentum and then go off the boil and come back at that level again. I hope they can recreate that magic because its stuff like that that interests me far more than guys like Punk. Not that I don't enjoy them but it's just nice to have someone new to be excited about. They are starting the next Hangman story on BTE Spoiler they have had both him and the bucks consider making up then backing off. hangman also went looking for a Broom Quote
The Gaffer Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 (edited) "You knew Stu Hart, Ross!" "A master of submission. Nasty man, with no conscious." I think that's Rampage off the weekly schedule until I hear different. I thought it might get a bit of a boost after Dynamite this week but it seems to be definitively positioned now as Dark 1.5 with a bridge to ROH. That's cool - I'm sure a lot of AEWs core audience want to see some more undercard exposure for an hour - but none of the feuds on it ever seem to amount to anything more than a quick backstage promo and "Let's do a match now" and I'm just not into - well - wrestling matches enough for me to sit through it. I'm basically looking for the B-show to be a continuation of storylines from the A-show. Rampage isn't the place for that, seemingly. Edited July 30, 2022 by Gay as FOOK Quote
Paid Members ReturnOfTheMack Posted July 30, 2022 Paid Members Posted July 30, 2022 That main event was rough. I can forgive Anna Jay, she's still relatively green and has shown she can have some decent matches. But I don't think I've ever seen Ruby Soho being anything better than average, and that's been rare enough. Quote

It's meant to be watched on Saturday morning when you're half awake, groggy and eating cereal with absolutely zero expectations. That's how I watch it and I bloody love it every week. Infinity Land Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 Yeah, unless it's live or a PPV weekend I don't have very high expectations other than an easy hour of wrestling. It's Friday at 10pm for them and early Saturday morning for us. I've never seen it as AEW's Smackdown or Thunder. More like Heat before Smackdown came along. Quote
Infinity Land Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Turns out Rampage marked it's 52nd edition. One year's worth of shows. At this point which would you have preferred? 3 hour Dynamite or the creation of Rampage. Quote
Paid Members JLM Posted August 1, 2022 Paid Members Posted August 1, 2022 I think it should be illegal to make weekly wrestling TV shows three hours long. I think real criminal charges should be brought against those who do it. So I'm gonna say Rampage. Quote

Dynamite going to 3 hours is a fucking terrible idea. It doesn't matter how much you enjoy or don't enjoy Rampage - a third hour would have been worse. Add me to the list of 'Rampage is for cereal and tea on a groggy Saturday morning' viewers. Quote
Guest Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 There’s no need to have 3 hours of anything on tv or film. A separate show that the mid card have side feuds on is fine. Then when they do a live show, you know something is worth tuning in for Quote
Infinity Land Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 World Title Eliminator: Jon Moxley (c) v. Mance Warner Street Fight: Swerve Strickland & Keith Lee v. Tony Nese & Josh Woods Madison Rayne debut (spoilers for potential direction) Spoiler Madison Rayne v. Leila Grey has been mentioned based on Elevation tapings. Looks like Rayne might be a TBS challenger after mixing it up with Jade & The Baddies. I'm sure it will be a solid show as always. Using a live edition of Rampage to do the TV debuts of a couple of talents, not my first choice. Quote
