Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 8, 2023 Author Paid Members Posted April 8, 2023 i know its a trilogy fight and all but why is Pena getting another crack at Nunes? she got dusted in her first defence. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 8, 2023 Paid Members Posted April 8, 2023 (edited) It’s purely because of a lack of other challengers. This is how the rankings look at Bantamweight currently… They could’ve given Pennington another shot. She’s won her last 5 fights but nearly died last time she fought Nunes. Holm’s also lost to Nunes before and is coming off that awful points win over Yana Santos. Vieira’s coming off a split decision loss in another snoozer against Pennington. Then there’s Aldana, who’s the only other real option, in my opinion. She’s not on some killer run but she’s coming off a couple of stoppage wins and she’s a fresh challenger for Nunes. But even then, her last 2 wins were Catchweight at 140lbs and she missed weight in one of them. I mean, I’m with you. Pena got absolutely schooled last time and never made one successful title defence. But given the other options, I can see why they went this route. They’ve got very little to work with. The Top 5 is nearly all rematches of fights Nunes won handily. If they’re gonna recycle an opponent for her, I guess at least Pena does have a win over her. Also, we’ve said it before but what is the actual point of keeping the women’s Featherweight division around? Nunes hasn’t defended the belt since the Megan Anderson fight in 2021 and there’s not really any talk of when she’ll next defend it because there’s no sod at 145. Paid Members WeeAl Posted April 8, 2023 Paid Members Posted April 8, 2023 The dirt worst division in the promotion. Outside of watching Nunes paste a fool, there's never anything I want to watch in that whole damn thing. It sure as hell ain't 115 or 125. Reading the global circular emails in work is more exciting than contender 1-15 of women's bantamweight. Quote

Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 15, 2023 Paid Members Posted April 15, 2023 Just woke up. Fuck today already. Right up the arse. No lube. I mean I’m glad they’re rescheduling it but that fight was most of my interest in UFC 288. I was in the process of knocking up a thread for that card and losing this fight is a massive blow. Now it’s relying on Aljamain Sterling (who gets injured a fair bit) and Henry Cejudo (who hasn’t fought in nearly 3 years), otherwise they might as well chuck the whole thing in the bin. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 15, 2023 Author Paid Members Posted April 15, 2023 eeesh, big hit to the card. Bryce Mitchell's opponent fell out too. Quote

Yeah, it sounds bad but I’m actually hoping Charles Jourdain withdraws from the Kron Gracie fight now so we can get Bryce vs Kron instead. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 16, 2023 Paid Members Posted April 16, 2023 Tough break for Bryce this. To go from Jonathan Pearce who’d have been a decent but winnable fight to a much more difficult fight in undefeated wrestler Movsar Evloev is rough. Especially coming off the loss to Topuria. Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 21, 2023 Paid Members Posted April 21, 2023 Some upcoming main events were made official overnight. Emmett vs Topuria is by far the pick of this bunch for me. Hermansson vs Allen is decent. Vettori vs Cannonier is whatever. Strickland vs Magomedov absolutely baffles me though. For one, it’s another fucking Strickland headliner. Also, Magomedov as the opponent makes no sense. Don’t know why they’ve put him in a main event and it’s a step down for Strickland as well. Odd. Quote
Paid Members WeeAl Posted April 23, 2023 Paid Members Posted April 23, 2023 Only one of those four seems exciting at this stage. I guess maybe they are just trying to put some spotlight on the rest of middleweight, as with Adesanya back with the gold, he's going to need some of these guys making a real claim to deserve another crack at him. That Strickland Vs Magomedov one though? If that's the main event then that's a whole night that's getting skipped. Life is too short for Sean Strickland, Holly Holm or Kaitlyn Chookagian fights. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 25, 2023 Paid Members Posted April 25, 2023 Smith vs Eubank 2 official. Guess this means Conor Benn’s gonna have to fight someone else in Saudi or wherever they’re taking his yolked up self. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted April 25, 2023 Paid Members Posted April 25, 2023 (edited) Fair play to Eubank, he could have taken the Benn fight somewhere in the middle east for a lot of money, but he has taken the rematch. He is getting merked again though isn't he. There was nothing lucky about the first win for Smith. Edited April 25, 2023 by Lion_of_the_Midlands Piss poor spelling. Quote
