But... we don't know if Tiffany Stratton is either. We never will know. We just know what's happened. And this forum having an abstract discussion on how to best punish racist acts without the surety of intent isn't the Saturday I wanted.

Not when Solo is wearing such a snazzy jacket.

If any of us was having the Saturday we wanted we wouldn't have time to post here.

Saw a pitch online for a Bloodline Civil War  for this year’s Wargames match. Solo, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa and Jacob Fatu vs. Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso…and Sami Zayn(!).

Would the match be any good? Probably not. WWE Wargames matches almost always suck balls. But would the poster look boss? Definitely. And would each separate moment where the Bloodline OG’s make friends be some of the greatest moments of all time? Hell fucking yes! Imagine Roman acknowledging Jey! Jimmy and Jey reuniting! Them deciding the only man who can help them is Sami Zayn. I get goosebumps just imagining it.

I figured it would be Solo, Tama, Tanga and Rock v Roman, Usos and Jacob Fatu.

Roman has always been about family. He could argue that not only is Rock usurping his power but that Tama and Tanga are 'like brothers to me' but they are not blood. Jacob Fatu is blood. The Uso's are blood. Get the elders involved. Get Rikishi to bring the Uso's back together like Papa Briscoe did with Jay and Mark. 'Have you got it out of your system now?' etc.

Theres a hell of a lot they can do. I'm just intrigued when they are intending to do it.

I doubt they’d waste the Rock wrestling a match or any Rock/Roman physical interactions before Wrestlemania.

Ultimately though, I just want My Dawgs back.

Ucey.

A babyface run for the original Bloodline, free to crack jokes and try and break each other? I'm in.

What are we doing here? Did you not read my review of the show? Solo Sikoa has had a new trim and bought a shiny red belt. That's the perspective we need.

Getting some real "Samoa Joe in UPW" vibes from Solo these days.

If I may pass comment on Cargill vs Jax... that way out, I'm actually a big supporter of. If you aren't having Jade win, I don't mind the DQ at all. "Wrestler X is undefeated" has been an anchor round the ankle of too many guys, setting up unrealistic expectations of what a big deal the first loss will be. Jade doesn't need  that.

Although nothing compares to the letdown of "Charlotte has never lost a singles match on a PPV" coming crashing down not in actually losing the title or at a big event, but losing to Bayley in an arbitrary defence after she'd lost the belt to her on Raw, taking place on a Facelane or Roadblock or whatever the fuck placeholder event between Rumble and Mania, which even the biggest Bayley fans probably don't remember.

Bloodline stuff aside, which continues to blow all expectations out of the water, I thought this was one of the worst episodes of Smackdown in quite some time. Numerous examples of the type of rubbish tropes you’d normally associate with the DARK DAYS. Is Vince back working remotely?! Was Michael Hayes too busy having hushed meetings with Tiffany Stratton to write a proper show? This sucked.

Doing a bait and switch on Cody vs. Logan being Title for Title absolutely reeked of changing your mind and trying to write yourself out it. It didn’t put heat on Logan for being a heel and refusing to defend his belt. It just put heat on the company for being inconsistent and wishy-washy with their stipulations. On its own, this would have been forgivable, but more was to come.

Absolutely hated the finish to Nia vs. Jade. Rubbish well-actually, technicality scripting, where you have to write yourself out of a corner. Again, this didn’t put heat on anyone but the company. It’s a work. You can book anything you want. You didn’t have to book this match, or put Jade in the tournament at all. Nothing worse than seeing the wires like this and knowing there was a panicked discussion of how to get Jade out of the tournament without her losing. “Just do a DQ, who cares.” Crap, lazy, intelligence-insulting, misery booking. A real 2017 energy about this.

And then finally, you’d think someone was trying to sabotage the careers of Carmello and DIY from watching this show.

Carmello looked rubbish all night long. Completely overshadowed in the backstage promo with LA Knight, and thrown out there to lose clean and look absolutely tiny.

It’s already a problem with Hayes that he looks like a WWE Superstar that’s been shrunk in the wash. It’s not just that he’s so short. It’s the fact that he doesn’t wrestle in a way that suggests he’s overcoming it. He’s not a high flier running circles around guys, beating them with pace. He’s not a technical wizard cutting guys down with exceptional skills. He’s just a generic WWE wrestler, doing some generic WWE wrestling, but looking like he’s much further away than everyone else. And then to put him out there with Randy Orton?! In his Final Form?! Steve Roids?! Fucking hell. It looked ridiculous. A civilian scrapping with The Hulk. A child fighting a caravan. Randy chucking him into the announce table like he was one of The Bollywood Boyz, then beating him clean, reversing a classic Springboard Nothing into the RKO for the clean win? This is not the way. Everyone looks stupid picking him so early in the draft. He is not him. At all.

And then even more of a massacre was Austin Theory and Grayson Waller ripping DIY to shreds at the desk. There’s a fine line between building a feud and outright burying someone. A-Town Down Under don’t give a flying fuck about that line. They’re so far past it they can’t even remember where the line was. Again, DIY are already a floundering act, but to hear them go for the jugular like this you assume everyone backstage has given up hope. Grayson and Theory, pissing charisma and banter, describing them as cosplay losers who, “peaked in college” (NXT). Christ, lads. You’re saying the quiet part loud! By the time DIY won they may as well have not bothered. Call an audible, you pair of whoppers. Don’t waste your time actually having the match. You’ve already lost.

On the plus side, LA Knight is still the guy. Ridiculous how over he still is, despite not getting the focus he so obviously deserves. Genuine excitement when he bumped into Logan Paul backstage. I assume that’s the Summerslam match.

But yeah. Solo’s jazzy jacket alone saved this show. Those, “We Want Roman,” chants are already electric. Imagine when he comes back as a babyface. The prophecy is complete. You did it. You crazy son of a bitch, you did it.

Is it a bait and switch though? Was it ever officially announced as Title vs Title outside of Cody tweeting about it? Apologies if I missed that part, but it seems to play perfectly into the Logan Paul character that portrays a tough rocky guy, but is actually a weasel. I know it was advertised as Champion vs Champion, but not both titles on the line. Again, happy to be proven wrong.

It seems to me that as usual, people have whipped themselves into a frenzy over something that hadn't actually happened yet.

Cody and the announcers spoke about it being for both belts on both this week’s Smackdown and last week’s. Kayfabe or not, it was a pivot.

It may have always been the plan, and they wanted to try and get some heat on Logan, but even if that was the intent it didn’t work at all.

Cody’s promo on this show also went directly against everything he said last week. Talking about how he respected Logan and wasn’t going to go down the lazy route of calling him an outsider, and then this week he went two-footed into doing exactly that!

As I said - on its own it probably wouldn’t have even registered, but between that and the Jade finish, the whole show just felt like a time warp to a much shitter time. Bad, inconsistent stories being re-written or rug-pulled in as lazy a manner as possible.

Did Brian Gerwirtz stick around after Wrestlemania?
