I see he's not lost any of his classic "innocent banter" right enough, nothing better than referring to a Muslim as a "backwards cunt" when he doesn't accept a drink of your alcohol.

Fucking hell.  It's like Mayweather Pacquiao isn't it where you feel like you have to side with the least horrible cunt.  In this instance, I'd say Khabib is less of a personal cunt, but he is mates with some real fucking cunts.  Mind you, I reckon there is a part of "You'll be my friend, Khabib, or you'll disappear" kind of deal going on with his political chums.

Khabib has YouTube videos laughing at homeless men in Russia and giving them money if they do 10 press ups, doubt he was forced to do that.

Might be why I said "There is a part of" it in my post about him being a cunt.

Inspector McGregor.

Haha I haven't even watched the press conference yet but he's basically recycling the recent Pusha T vs Drake hip hop beef there. "A baby's involved, it's deeper than rap. We talkin' character, let me keep with the facts. Adonis is your son, and he deserves more than an Adidas press run."

Like I say, haven't even watched it yet and I've already had a McGregor fan texting me that he "made Khabib look like a bitch"

Yeah, it's  one of those ones really.

The fact that virtually no one is mentioning it kind of tells you the level that MMA is at really. We don't see it because we're in a bubble to an extent, but it really is among the worst of the worst.

Coked up Irish guy places a cup of alcohol in front of a Dagestani Muslim who says he doesn't want it becaus he doesn't drink alcohol. Irish man asks why not, and then before Muslim man answers yells obscenities at him and calls him a "backwards cunt."

in any other section of society this wouldn't be acceptable, but in MMA it's cool because it's all part of getting the muzzie "rattled" before a big fight.

I know combat sport attracts that demographic but ever been to a local MMA show? So many two can Van Damme's and shaven headed gammons it could be a Britain First rally, except with a crowd. Boxing gets its fair share but a local MMA show needs carpets otherwise wooden floorboards will be ruined what with the scoring from dragged knuckles.

Yeah, I made the mistake of attending a UFC event in the U.K once. I'll not make the same mistake twice, it was full of absolute mouth breathers. I shudder to think what a local promotion is like, or cage rage back in the day.

I'm not sure why, but I had a feeling that he was going to do something alcohol-related tonight. I'm sure some will say he's just selling his wares and all that jazz, but he picks the time he's sitting on a stage with a fucking Muslim to do it? Then proceeds to pour a cup and put it in front of the guy before saying what he said?

Then again, maybe they didn't have Muslims in his little Irish village where he grew up, and he simply doesn't understand their foreign ways? Same as he doesn't understand what offends the blacks or the gays?

Fucking hell, I'm watching it and had to take a break about three quarters through it because it's exhausting to listen to. What the fuck is wrong with McGregor? Seriously, go back to his interviews and press conferences in 2013, 2014. He resembles nothing of that guy now to me. Just a load of shouty drivel, constantly shouting over Khabib every time he tried to answer a question, constantly shilling his whiskey like he's Del Boy trying to flog shite on the market stall, can't sit still for 2 seconds. He seems more gone in the fucking head than ever.

If people really watched this and saw Khabib as the one rattled, I don't get it. Khabib was pretty much exactly as I expected him to be. He was never going to be rattling off one liners and sound bites. McGregor though. I had a feeling he'd be something like this but it all just felt a bit desperate to me. All this 'research' he's done was a funny little twist, I suppose, but it all just feels like he's clutching at straws to me. If anything, it's McGregor I thought seemed rattled and agitated. Different people act different ways when they're rattled and McGregor going completely non-stop on the offence and going so over the top like this just felt like he was trying too hard to me. Like he's trying his best to play these intimidation tactics because he knows he needs Khabib to abandon his gameplan and try to brawl with him to win. It just felt really desperate to me. And maybe I'm missing something but I didn't see Khabib looking particularly rattled or bothered. Clearly he's had more enjoyable days but I didn't see anything where I thought it would effect him negatively in the fight.

It's mad. We haven't heard a peep out of McGregor in months. And we were all gutted that he wasn't doing media and the build up wouldn't be what we'd hoped. Then he finally turns up for this presser and he's so overbearing I can't watch it all in one go. Don't get me wrong, this is way better than the silence we've had up to now. But McGregor's so far removed from the guy I became a fan of in 2013 it's not even funny.

I've never attended a local MMA show. However, the crowd was fine when I attended UFC 138 in Birmingham. The crowd was also fairly reasonable when I attended Miocic vs Struve in Nottingham the following year.

The online MMA community is the drizzling shits though. Youtube comments are a sewer in general. It isn't just MMA fans that act the cunt on there. But specialised MMA forums and comments sections elsewhere on the internet are usually a bit grim.

There are cunts and good people in all fanbases of all sports. There is probably more of it in MMA/Boxing crowds because it naturally will attract the wannabe hardcases. But I've been to 5 or 6 UFC shows and a few Boxing shows and I've genuinely never seen any trouble or been massively bothered by people in attendance. You might get the odd drunken twat shouting stupid bollocks but nothing major. Yeah there are some proper cunts but it's not indicative of the general MMA fan. The cunts are just louder.

The whole fucking organisation is, for the most part, very politically questionable, and I guess you can't really blame the fans when the President is leading from the front.

Talented black champion claims that his platform is something he wants to use to address racial inequality in the United States. That's a good thing, right? He's in a position of celebrity to an extent, and as a seemingly stand up guy he makes some pretty valid comments regarding the state of race relations in the US, and also within the UFC.

now, any other company, profession or whatever where a prominent member of staff makes noises about what he perceives as racial issues you see the company look to address them, check out his claims, see what's what.

President of the UFC takes time away from speaking at his Trump convention to claim that his black champion is "a drama queen," and if he was just a little more like his white champion and concentrated on fighting and selling PPV's by calling people cholo's and faggots then maybe the fans would like him rather than laugh at his claims of racial injustice as him "whining."

Thing is, when this shit with Conor is all done and dusted and he fucks of back to his pile of coke were getting the main event as far as politically uncomfortable shit goes.

Covington is already accusing Woodley of race baiting, and dear old Dana has already taken him to the fucking White House so he can pose with one of the most devisive leaders of our time.

by the time that fight rolls around the memory of Conor calling a Muslim a backwards cunt will seem like a distant memory.

I honestly don't know if it's just age or what, but I'm really starting to dislike MMA. It is, in my opinion, worse for boneheaded bigoted hillbilly shit today than it was during the "just bleed" era, and that's saying something.

The shoving of the whiskey in Khabib's face was the only real glaring error McGregor made here IMO.  The rest was great stuff.  Khabib looked fairly unflappable for the most part, I wonder if he'd had a crowd in front of him then it might have been different.  Can't fucking wait for this fight.  To me - this is the first time we've seen Conor sell the fight with the angle of this being personal.  It never really was with Aldo nor Diaz.

I don't think anyone is saying Khabib is a shitting wreck like Aldo was, but there were a couple of lines where Khabib clearly was pissed off, which is what Conor is going for.

I may be well off here, and there is a fair chance he's just coked out his head, but part of the plan is maybe to be completely overbearing. Kavanagh tells the story of Conor acting like a mad bastard (may have been one of the Diaz fights) and Kavanagh backstage thinking to himself "I need to have a word here, he's lost the plot", only for Conor to sit down beside him and say "the illusion of madness is over". Very Ali v Liston, which is what he was going for when he turned Aldo into a wreck.

He should be nervous though. It's Khabib!

I thought Khabib came out of that looking way more comfortable and relaxed than Conor, and also that he had the most effective comment or retort of the press conference as well. When McGregor was banging on about his clan fighting the English for 100 years, Khabib's decision to ask him about what language he speaks, worked better than any of the insults McGregor threw at him. If Conor could have turned it around and actually spoke Ghaeilge to him, it would have been an utter win for McGregor. He couldn't though, and he seemed like he didn't expect it.

The part that I thought Khabib was the most affected, if at all, was when the reporter greeted him with a phrase in Arabic, and then mentioned to Conor about his Whisky, and he jumped at him for saying the phrase and talking about whisky in the same sentence.

Khabib was on his game here, and comfortable. McGregor, act or not, was completely off the edge, not whatsoever relaxed or smooth, nor was he funny in anyway. That may well be an act, to appear unhinged, or it may be the way he actually is. In no way though, do I think that all of that carry on last night helped Conor more than it helped Khabib.

The wit and charm of McGregor is long gone. We're in the final act. Superstardom has passed by and we're now well into his era of infamy.
