Paid Members Teedy Kay Posted January 24, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2018 Christ when you look at them, Leeds have had utter shite logos throughout their history 73-81 being awful. 81-84 looks more like a snail than a peacock. Paid Members PunkStep Posted January 24, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2018 71-73 and 84-98 the clear better options there. What's up with them nicking Wednesday's symbol in the 60s??
Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 24, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2018 Half agree with PunkStep there - only decent one is 84-98. The first one isn't too bad, it's just a classic coat of arms, which isn't always the worst thing for a club badge, although that particular one is a bit busy. The three 70s ones look like willies.[/astro]

Paid Members tiger_rick Posted January 24, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2018 Definitely of their time but the 70s ones are great. The 84-98 one, synonymous with their title win in 1992 is the one that instantly cones to mind if I think of TWS though. Never realised the LUFC letters was only around a couple of years, it's another I think is quite iconic. A redesign is overdue, their current badge has always looked a bit shit. They've adopted the white rose though, seems crazy to not include that and "LUFC". Someone trying to justify their job making a mess of this. Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted January 24, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2018 Can imagine some young lad ripping his new Leeds shirt upon seeing that badge, and his Dad telling him "we'll just tell ya mother t'whippets got hold of it." Briefcase
Leeds United's first kit was blue & white as well, much like Sheffield Wednesdays. Think they changed to white in the late 50's/early 60's.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 24, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 24, 2018 Yeah, wasn't it something to do with emulating Real Madrid? Think I heard that in a pub quiz once. Just saw this on Facebook: Â
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted January 25, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 25, 2018 The owls are the Leeds coat of arms. Always dodgy getting councils involved. The original suggestion for the new stadium in Hull was to seat it in the council's colours, blue and yellow. That went down well given they're associated with Leeds for football and rugby. Paid Members SpursRiot2012 Posted January 26, 2018 Paid Members Share Posted January 26, 2018 I'm not sure what counts as wild speculation and what can be talked about when it seems a goer, transfer window wise, but Lucas Moura looks to be on his way to Tottenham. £22m, says the Telegraph: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/01/25/tottenham-show-lucas-moura-around-training-ground-consider-bid/amp/ It would be a bit out of the ordinary for us to do any major business in January (Malcom wouldn't be joining until the summer, if that one even happens) but we could certainly do with an injection of some pace and some quality and give Poch options when his Plan A doesn't work out. Often it seems that when we can't break down a team, there is no Plan B. Our options from the bench aren't great, for one. So we end up dropping points we really can't afford to lose this year. Opening the new stadium without Champions League football would be really sour.

NoUseforaUsername
Aubameyang set to sign for a fixed fee of £53m with £2.5m in add-ons if major trophies are won and if the CL group stages are passed (lol) after Arsenal tapped him up and succeeded in unsettling him and getting him to go on strike. Meanwhile, Arsenal demanded £31m for a 31 year old Giroud who hasn't played all season, should Dortmund have wanted him in part exchange. English teams really treat other foreign teams like rubes in situations like this. You would expect better negotiations from a German side, though, as mentioned, hands were forced with Aubameyang going on strike.
