Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted October 17, 2016 Author Paid Members Posted October 17, 2016 In some mental news, GSP is now a free agent after UFC missed the legal deadline to offer him a fight. Apparently Robbie Lawler was talked about, but Lawler has decided to take time off. Mad from UFC because they're surely in a worse position now GSP can play both UFC and Bellator. Even more brutal should Bellator secure a star of GSP's drawing power. Quote
jimufctna24 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 "Georges St-Pierre remains under an existing agreement with Zuffa, LLC as his MMA promoter. Zuffa intends to honor its agreement with St-Pierre and reserves its rights under the law to have St-Pierre do the same." The UFC's response. Quote
David Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Imagine if GSP went to Bellator? All that would be missing is the denim waistcoat and tooth pick as far as significance goes for that company. Quote
theringmaster Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I think GSP is the sort of bloke that prides himself on being the best so going to Bellator just isn't a option Quote
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted October 18, 2016 Paid Members Posted October 18, 2016 Will we finally get the GSP vs. Ken Shamrock fight everyone (me) has been clamouring for? Quote
Paid Members WeeAl Posted October 18, 2016 Paid Members Posted October 18, 2016 Will we finally get the GSP vs. Ken Shamrock fight everyone (me) has been clamouring for? I like your style Gus. I'd bring in Dan Severn and make it a three way though. Quote
Paid Members Gus Mears Posted October 18, 2016 Paid Members Posted October 18, 2016 I genuinely think they could do a repeat of that John Cena and Randy Orton vs. The Raw roster deal from a few years ago. GSP vs. Bellator, gauntlet style. Start off with scrubs like Chandler and Koreshkov, then move up to the real main event players like Ken and Dada 5000 towards the end. Quote
Paid Members WeeAl Posted October 18, 2016 Paid Members Posted October 18, 2016 I'm going to be disappointed now if anything other than that happens. Could they get Sakuraba and Tank Abbott in for a fight as well? I'm more excited for this gauntlet than GSP fighting Tyron Woodley. They wouldn't even allow fish hooks or headbutts if he were to take that fight for fuck sake. Quote

Something tells me the UFC will end up winning here. That said, I don't think GSP wants to fight anywhere else to be honest. I think all this is to force the UFC's hand in giving him a new deal. Paid Members WeeAl Posted October 18, 2016 Paid Members Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) Stop spoiling it for Gus and myself. We're still dreaming of him in Bellator against the proper stars, putting on a performance Van Damme would be proud of. Edited October 18, 2016 by WeeAl Quote

In an ideal situation Bellator will just hold a real life Kumite and have GSP vs Bolo Quote
jimufctna24 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) I think that Lamby is right. If GSP's manager can't cut the right deal with the UFC, and they reach a stalemate, then GSP's return will probably be shelved for a while. I can't imagine GSP going to Bellator. They just don't fit together at all. It would be like John Cena turning up in TNA circa 2008. Edited October 18, 2016 by jimufctna24 Quote

It would just be fun to see Dana's face if, after everything he said about GSP not wanting to fight, that Georges could turn up in Bellator for less money, because he did want to fight. I don't believe Dana for a second on this. GSP knows what he's worth and the UFC don't want to set a precendent for everyone else by giving in. Quote
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted October 18, 2016 Author Paid Members Posted October 18, 2016 GSP definitely prefers UFC, everyone does, but I wouldn't discount Bellator if they're willing to pay over the odds for GSP to turn up on their show. They already have his mate Rory over there, which is something of a bridge. Interesting to see how this plays out, with GSP's lawyer saying he's a free agent and UFC seemingly oblivious to that fact. Paid Members GlennCullen Posted October 18, 2016 Paid Members Posted October 18, 2016 This will just be a negotiating tactic, GSP has some big guns behind him due to his agency and film career. Quote
