Moderators PowerButchi Posted June 1, 2015 Moderators Share Posted June 1, 2015 This is a thread for lovers of real food. As me and NEWM have discussed several times on Social Media, the more things you fit into a tin the better the meal. So I'm going to keep you updated on my food inttake and would love for you all to chime in with your favourite real foods. This is no place for pansie foods like Big Spud's posh stuff. These are real mealks.  The kings of Real Food are the Westlers company. And today I sampled their delectable Beans and Meatballs.   As you can see, it's MUMS CHOICE if you've got a mum that loves you. And at a very reasonable £1.09 who can argue with the value?    So, I slopped it into a microwavable container and you can see a rich and dark tomato sauce along with promisingly fatty meatballs. Processed, but that's what makes them great. 3 minutes later they are served with 4 pieces of lighlty toasted medium sliced white.   A pint of scalding hot tea and 4 or 5 cigarettes on the side gave this dish a delightful finish. Out of 10? I'd give it 11. it was fucking gorgeous. The perfect accompaniment to The Daily Politics.   So yeah, here be where we discuss real food for real men. Moderators PowerButchi Posted June 1, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted June 1, 2015 The toaster doesn't do the tops and I can't be fucked turning the bread upside down halfway through. And as fellow tin expert NEWM explains... Â Â it's all about the meatballs. To be honest, in this environment, hot floppy bread is actually better than toast. You want that smushing sensation when you cut the bread to go with the tin of choice, that almost wraps around/blends in to the tinned choice, not a crispy crackle of some broken toast jaggedly getting in the way. Krytie 2X4B 523P
Im obsessed with BBQ Rib Rustlers at the minute. 80 seconds and done. The challenge is eating as soon as. Â Perfect toast for me is a nice soft yellow number. Toast lightly, butter heavily and then toast again, cover in scolding hot eggs, beans, tinned breakfast etc
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted June 1, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 1, 2015 yeh, you've let yourself down on the toast front there Butch. Â I'm ashamed to say i've never actually eaten a tin of beans with something else in it, not even beans & sausage. I've seen they do full english breakfasts and all kinds of shit these days, maybe it's time?
Paid Members GlennCullen Posted June 1, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 1, 2015 Wait, what? Butter heavily then toast again? What is this lunacy?

Moderators PowerButchi Posted June 1, 2015 Author Moderators Share Posted June 1, 2015 You're all wrong on the toast. You want the toast to be lightly toasted so it absorbs all the sauce like a buttery sponge.
Paid Members stumobir Posted June 1, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted June 1, 2015 (edited)  The toaster doesn't do the tops and I can't be fucked turning the bread upside down halfway through  Is there a toaster in the world that does do the tops? Seriously? It has one job...  As for me, I'm a man of simple pleasures so when I'm looking for my fix of tinned processed goodness I rarely venture away from Heinz Spag Bol or Ravioli, it's all about the thick sliced bread though, can't be doing with this medium carry on. Very occasionally treat myself to a tin of Stagg Chilli, get a good splash of Frank's Hot Sauce in about that and you'e got a gourmet meal for one. Seriously? It has one job...  I don't know why it's never really occurred to me to question this before, I've always just accepted it like a total sucker. Who the fuck decided that the average household toaster should have a slot shorter than the average slice of bread?
Keith Houchen
Yeah, before I became a perfumed ponce, a tin of Stagg Chilli was a special occasion meal for me. And stop getting toast wrong. For what he had, Butch had it cooked to perfection.
Otto Dem Wanz
Anyone else burn toast to fuck? For me it has to be black in the centre and dark brown on the edges, smother it with spread and enjoy the oily crunch.
d-d-d-dAz
I had mackerel, hummus and a decaf coffee for my tea. I don't think I belong here. Â Though, similar to Houchy, before I became gentrified, a Stagg Chili or a Fray Bentos was a special occasion style dinner. Â I once made a sandwich, whilst we're on the subject of grim food, as such; make cheese on toast; heat a shallow amount of oil in pan; turn heat up high, drop bread side of cheese on toast into pan; add bacon. The Fried Bread-Cheese on Toast-Bacon sarnie was an absolute winner.
patiirc
Was fucking gutted when I couldnt find the Chicken 'Silverado' I think Stagg Chilli in a can, was epic with pretty much anything. Butchi's toast looks spot on. Im not having any cremated bollocks will wreck the insides of your mouth despite the delicacies on the plate.
