Lemon Juice Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Just finished watching the Hart episode in the Monday Night War series and although i still enjoyed it there was nothing new thrown in. It was pretty much the Greatest Rivalries with Bret and Shawn cut down to an hour. They finished it off with Bret's return to Raw in 2010 when he and Shawn buried the hatchet. But these episodes seem to have the same talking head segments thrown in almost every time.
Paid Members bAzTNM#1 Posted September 17, 2014 Paid Members Posted September 17, 2014 Didn't know there were as many as 25 shows of "Rock n Wrestling". I imagine the bloody brilliant theme song will have to change. It's basically an instrumental of the Bonnie Tyler song "Ravishing"..
Lemon Juice Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 The 7th Episode of The Monday Night War is "The War Gets Extreme"

Although well produced, this episode (along with several others in the series) didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know. Still a great series for people who weren't fans during the mid to late nineties though.
Paid Members JNLister Posted September 19, 2014 Paid Members Posted September 19, 2014 The 7th Episode of The Monday Night War is "The War Gets Extreme" Or to put it another way, Monday Night Wars, NWO Back In Black, Attitude Era, Heartbreak & Triumph/Thy Kingdom Come, For All Mankind and Bret vs Shawn will be followed by The Rise and Fall of ECW.
Lemon Juice Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 We really should've expected something like this. A 20 episode run was going to be hard to fill. But to be honest we weren't going to find out anything new about the war anyway. All of us die hard fans have pretty much seen and heard everything about it anyway. Having said that i'm still enjoying the series.
Paid Members JNLister Posted September 19, 2014 Paid Members Posted September 19, 2014 It could have been easy to fill. You just have every episode cover a three month period and talk about the main angles and matches on both shows during that time, along with a look at the key backstage events. As it is, it's looking remarkably like there'll be episode 1 about the launch, episode 20 about the simulcast, and everything else you can watch in any order without it making much difference.
Lemon Juice Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I wouldn't be surprised if an episode on the Brawl For All was thrown in aswell.

The first first paragraph sums up exact what I thought we would have been getting. The Hart episode had a big section about him coming back to make piece with Shawn, a full 9 years after said Wars had ended. All the archive footage that WWE owns from WCW they could have easily put together a great retrospective of the period for both companies. Instead we have a lop-sided "WWE struggled for a bit then got attitude and won" again and again and all we have from WCW side is 10+ year old interviews with Bischoff. You can see how lazy they are with a series with 'WWE vs. WCW' in the title by dedicating an episode to ECW
MichaelMush Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I've watched all of the Monday Night War episodes so far and I have enjoyed them but they never seem to mention the talent WCW had. All they go on about is how they stole superstars from the WWF and had old timers there while the WWF had the new generation. They never mention the young talent in WCW like Guerrero, Mysterio, Jericho and well obviously they aren't going to mention Benoit. I know these guys weren't themain event guys they ended up being in the WWE because of Hogan, Flair etc I suppose you expect it being biased because it's a WWE show. I hope they do have an episode dedicated to the WCW cruiserweight division.
andrew "the ref" coyne Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Ai. I hope we get an episode on the cruiserweights and WWEs subpar Lightweight devision. Sadly it's looking unlikely.
King Pitcos Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 It could have been easy to fill. You just have every episode cover a three month period and talk about the main angles and matches on both shows during that time, along with a look at the key backstage events. But then they couldn't spend an hour going on about the fucking tank. As it is, the show works fine as something you can always dip into any episode of when you're bored. That probably works better as an archive show, but it's not very compelling to watch weekly.
The Dart Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Apparently WWE announced Roman Reigns' injury live on the Network, even doing a "we interrupt this programme" type thing and cut to the Headquarters Studio. Stuff like that, whatever it's for, would be pretty cool if not overdone.

That's clearly their intention, as this week's started with a five minute recap about WCW going head to head with Vince on Monday nights.
Lemon Juice Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 I heard that the Network is starting to air hidden 10 minute programming on various topics. Apparently they aired a short programme about the design and making of the WWE Championship title last night. Also these shorts aren't available in the on demand section. I believe this is to encourage people to watch the live feed on the Network.
