Paid Members WWFChilli Posted April 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 26, 2016 JCP was bought out by Turner, it was rebranded as WCW. GCW is another territory. That's pretty much the basic. November 1988 is the change from JCP/WCW, but it's minor branding changes. The weekly shows are easy enough to follow but they had a fuck ton other syndicated programs on the box then too. Daily Buzzard
GCW was Georgia Championship Wrestling which had the TV show on TBS called "World Championship Wrestling". JCP is Jim Crockett Promotions which ran the Mid-Atlantic territory. The Georgia Promoters sold out to Vince McMahon in 1984 and then Vince sold the promotion to Jim Crockett, which is how Georgia and Mid-Atlantic became one promotion, which was commonly known as the NWA. Then that promotion became WCW after Turner bought it in 1988.
DavidB6937
So I was just looking at WCW in chronological order on Reddit (covering WWE Network stuff) and would it be correct that there's no weekly show before Nitro started? Or is it under something else?
Paid Members PunkStep Posted April 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 26, 2016 WCW Saturday Night was the flagship before, wasn't it? Is that not on the network?
Abe_Knuckleball_Schwartz
WCW Saturday Night was the flagship before, wasn't it? Is that not on the network? Saturday Night was the main show before Nitro, sadly its not on the Network, I do hope it will be added in the not to distant future. Also there was Main Event and the syndicated show Power Hour. Paid Members JNLister Posted April 26, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 26, 2016 Saturday Night was the same show as World Championship Wrestling, just rebranded in 1992. None of those episodes are up yet.
The King of Old School
I remember Power Hour being my first taste of WCW when Sky One used to show it at some ungodly hour on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Â My Grandad used to record me all the wrestling on Sky before we had it, I had no clue who anyone was and remember thinking that it was a load of rubbish. Grittynotpretty
Working my way through the Raws from 2000. Funny that I can watch hours upon hours of these, but barely manage to watch this weeks raw without fast forwarding the majority of it.
Paid Members Sir Steve Redgrave Posted April 27, 2016 Paid Members Share Posted April 27, 2016 I'm loving all the Smackdown episodes that have been uploaded over recent weeks. Seem to be able to breeze through them without skipping a second and enjoying them thoroughly.

It's hit. & miss at the best of times, but this one is definitely worth skipping  This was the first episode I ever watched, I put it on in the background and found myself chuckling along at quite a lot of it. I take it I'm sure to enjoy the rest then? When they first announced it I thought it looked a bit cringey from the trailer.    New episode of Table for 3 featuring Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard has just been uploaded  Outstanding, I'll be all over that.
