Dixie Carter: “IMPACT WRESTLING will remain a vital part of Spike TV's programming on Wednesday nights, 9/8c, through the end of the year. Negotiations remain ongoing beyond this time frame.”

So, there's that.

Saw a live show is labelled as an international TV Taping? is this a special or for other TV shows im not aware of shown around the world etc?

They're the tapings for the 'One Night Only' shows.

Some of their contracts with TV companies around the world (such as Challenge in this country) required them to provide 12 'special events' per year, which at the time were just the monthly live PPVs.  When they cut back on their live PPV calendar to 4 a year, they were still contractually obligated to provide the monthly specials, so they now tape these one-off shows, usually with a theme (lethal lottery, all-women, all-X-division, world cup, champion of champions, hardcore, etc) and show them as the 'One Night Only' specials.

They still actually show them on regular PPV in the US too, but do virtually no business (at least one was reported to have done just a few HUNDRED buys).

This show is now showing as Impact taping on newz sites so anybodys guess really.  Maybe they are trying to big the show up by saying international on the basis that Impact is shown internationally...

9/5 in Charlottesville, Virginia will be be One Night Only: Turning Point. Advertised is Jeff Hardy vs. MVP, James Storm vs. Bobby Roode, Gail Kim vs. Madison Rayne and more.

9/6 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina will be One Night Only: Rivals. Advertised is Jeff Hardy vs. MVP, Mr. Anderson vs. James Storm, Gail Kim vs. Taryn Terrell and more.

9/7 in Fayetteville, North Carolina will be an Impact Wrestling taping for Spike TV. Advertised for the show is North Carolina's own Jeff and Matt Hardy.

IIRC, one didn't even make air at all, being pulled from the PPV schedule with no notice & replaced with soft porn?

Sounds to me like Spike saying they'll give it a try and Wednesdays and if they don't get the rating they want they'll bin it at the end of the year. If that's the case wonder if TNA have actually been given a figure they need to hit. 0.65 isn't a good start for them.

Nor is a target of higher ratings realistic when I've seen Preston City Wrestling shows with more star power than the current roster.

If they couldn't get better ratings in 2010 with a stacked deck, what chance do they have now?

Its the same rating they get everytime they move nights or timeslots. It'll be back up within 3 weeks once the casuals realise its not on thursdays anymore.

I've been mainly enjoying the New York shows, but then again i've never really missed an episode of Impact. I want them to survive, as crap as some of the content can be. I spin through a lot more of Raw and cant watch Smackdown at all. It's far from PG and there needs to be a promotion like that.

Could be TNA's new home.

Exclusive: TNA Receives Offer From TV Network, Details On The Rights Fees, Internal Reaction

TNA has received an offer from Discovery Network's VELOCITY channel. It's in 48 million homes and is in HD only.

The biggest issue is the rights fee, which is less than a quarter of what they are currently making at Spike. They'd have to find an additional revenue stream or the deal may not be viable. They are relieved that another suitor has materialized but are disappointed in the offer. They hope this opens the door to other prospective partners contacting them asap.

They'll be fucked if they sign that.

Well, seeing as Spike TV is the main source of TNA's income, it would be fair to say that the wage bill would have to be slashed in half (that's being very generous). Seeing how lacklustre the roster already is, it would be nothing more than a glorified ROH would it?
