patiirc
I will have a go at this. issue is that rock and metal and stoner and stuff were being formed so there is lots of cross over from Blues that progressed. So sorry in advance if these are all over the place. I wish my mate was around, I could have you got you a very comprehensive list, as this was his kind of thing There are a trillion different versions, ranging from dead short to overly long at 12 minute plus. This is a 7minuteish version Phil Arnott, Cozy Powell, Don Airey and Gary Moore Supergroup Appearance on the Old Grey Whistle Test - Probably too well known, but nothing like the Quo that many people will recognise - Again probably too well known Back to the more not well known High Tide- Pushed, but not Forgotten Flower Travelling Band- Satori Part II Earlier stuff not rock - 1932 Will add more when I get 5 secs
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted September 12, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 12, 2012 Mother's Finest - Dis Go Dis Way Dis Go Dat Way (1977) A belter. Uh, motherfucker. That's slamming. I don't usually like disco-themed funk, but that's great. Indeed. You may like the album it comes from, Another Mother Further. Their stuff is generally more funk rock based. The story goes that the song I posted is them doing a bit of a parody of Disco, while doing so they created a monster.
Paid Members Tommy! Posted September 12, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 12, 2012 Not sure if it classes as obscure.
Moderators neil Posted September 12, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 12, 2012 That above is the SHIT. Features Fred 'Sonic' Smith of the more well known MC5. All the stuff on that live album is great.
Moderators neil Posted September 12, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 12, 2012 Kak - Lemonaide Kid A very cool song, was used a few years ago in a BT advert. I was shocked when I heard it on TV, because I've never met anyone who knows this band. or this "Trieulogy" by them is also a great one:
Paid Members gmoney Posted September 12, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 12, 2012 The Chambers Brothers - Time Has Come Today Was a hit in its day, though. Not sure if that's the sort of thing you're after.
Keith Houchen
I used to DJ at a Freakbeat night, these were staples of the set Egg - Seven Is A Jolly Good Time The Creation - Painter Man The Monks - I Hate You Los Bravos - Black Is Black You'll probably all hate them, except for Guy Bifkin. Merzbow
A few tracks from that weird point in the 70's when people were making the most odd but amazing sounds. SPK - Kontakt
Loki
Keep them coming! I'll work through these tomorrow. Houchen, Bifkin strikes me as the sort of guy who'd like Peter Wyngarde.
Paid Members ColinBollocks Posted September 12, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 12, 2012 Some great songs in here, I'll need to investigate. Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Ebrauqs (I know he's quite well known, but I'm sure a few haven't heard his ill-fated Spector stuff).

MC5 is perfect, particularly Starship. Colosseum II are a band I'd completely forgotten about, and their Intergalactic Strut is another possibility. Gary Moore had the most amazing career, didn't he? Is there a Best Of Colosseum or owt I could buy?
Moderators Chest Rockwell Posted September 13, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 13, 2012 Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Ebrauqs Roland Kirk is great.... Loads of really good stuff in this thread. Where is all this usually whenever there's a music thread and it's all metal, boring indie rock and Girls Aloud?

Is there a Best Of Colosseum or owt I could buy? Gary Moore was very, very, very, very good. As for a best of. I think there's one called 'Streets and Walkways; which is a best of from around 1998. No idea what's actually on it though
