CavemanLynn
A slow few weeks but still lots of good stuff. Enzo breaking his leg won't hurt him at all - like what's already been said, his persona can work a treat with that onscreen. He's a prime example of what NXT often does really well, which is play to the workers' strengths. Enzo was a gym rat with a mouth who wanted to wrestle, so they gave him a mic and bumped the snot out of him, and he was awesome. Bo looks cheesy even when he's being serious, so they ramped the cheese up and he looks more of a star than ever. They'd never turn Paige either. They'd need an absolute killer angle to get the Full Sail crowd to boo her. The crowd really do support the guys they want to succeed, regardless of so called heel/face divides. Breeze, Enzo, English, and especially Zayn. Far from not giving a shit, the crowd fucking love Zayn. They know who he was, they know how hard he's worked and does work, plus he's adapted brilliantly to the WWE style, and yes, he is a darn nice guy, which makes a change. NXT is pretty much the perfect wrestling show right now. UK promotions looking for TV should make notes on the format. And it's great for WWE - sure, Rip Rogers will get you working 90 minute Broadways in OVW, but if you can't get over with a 3 minute match, then there's the door. Paid Members Statto Posted November 16, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted November 16, 2013 The crowd really do support the guys they want to succeed, regardless of so called heel/face divides. Breeze, Enzo, English, and especially Zayn. AKA the Impact Zone problem, like when TNA pushed Lance Hoyt to the moon because he went out on the piss with the "always first in the queue, always in the front row" crowd so they went nuts for him when he came out. Ergo, this guy MUST be over... OK, it's a far smaller problem in NXT as nothing that happens there REALLY matters, but now you've had Amore/Cassidy & English within a couple of months of each other "turn" face just because one building full of people refuses to boo them (I use "turn" as much like in the big leagues of WWE, actual face turns are few & far between - you just come out one week as a face & that's that). Count Calibla
Regal is just awesome on commentary. Funny, passionate and puts over the wrestlers. I wonder if he'll ever make one of the main shows?
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted November 16, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted November 16, 2013 If he was going to he would have by now. He's been doing it for a few years now. I dont think he's very highly rated in WWE HQ.

By contrast that same crowd turned Bo Dallas heel, which was definitely the right direction for him to go in.
Paid Members Fatty Facesitter Posted November 16, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) Regal would likely be really restricted on the main shows. At least on NXT he has a relative degree of creative freedom, whereas on the main shows he'll have the backstage/production crew bellowing in his headset every five minutes. Paid Members Arch Stanton Posted November 16, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted November 16, 2013 Regal gets away with talking a load of bollocks, telling shit jokes and dropping obscure British references on NXT because there's fuck all quality control. Which is a good thing, because the commentary comes across as natural and informal. You can tell that Regal enjoys doing it. I'm not sure he'd have half as much fun, or if he would even cope at all, if he had somebody shouting down his ear telling him to plug the WWE App, the Twitter poll, Total Divas, the live tour and so on and so on. Then he'd be getting told off for calling moves and the details of how they should be applied and told to concentrate on plugging the main event of the show. NXT is a world apart from a live Raw, Regal just wouldn't fit in.
Paid Members gadge Posted November 18, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted November 18, 2013 I thought Regal, Saxton (?) & Tensai made a very good 2/3 falls match between Adrian Neville and Corey Graves even better with their commentary this week just gone
mojojojo
Right, so I want to get into NXT. Do you recommend I strat from the beginning or can I just strat from now, have I missed much?

CavemanLynn
Yeah, just jump in. They update their intro pretty regularly so that'll give you a quick run down of who's involved in current story lines and pushes. And seriously, the story lines they do have really aren't rocket science - it's pretty much Booking 101 in effect.
The King Of Swing
One of the little things I like about NXT is how everyone calls William Regal "Mr. Regal" on commentary. Fits him perfectly.
