alexander
Apparently we're going to have segregation at almost every Nuneaton game from now on. Not sure what the thinking is, it must be a big extra expense for the club. It's a nonsense, really; we had segregation for the game against Worcester on Staurday, they were kept for ten minutes after the game ended...and then were told they were all welcome to watch the Mau U/Crawley game in our club house. rhyswynne
Shit going on at Chester City, crowd trouble. http://www.chester-city.co.uk/latest.asp  Shame really. I think there was problems at a friendly this season. I know a friend of mine saw his arse with it.  Aye I know the game as well as I was there. Colwyn Bay vs Chester, brought on as part of the package of our manager going to Chester. A lot of stories banded about (whether it was Wrexham fans or Vaughan's thugs that caused the trouble), but there were dogs & 2 police helicopters. As a long time fan it was easily the worst I've seen at Llanelian Road. With that said, bar a streaker & a moment where I got my collar felt for "Inciting racial hatred" (I was chanting "2-1 to the sheep shaggers to Stafford fans after suffering 70 minutes of "sheep shagger" chanting!), we're a fairly placcid bunch  Either way we've seemed to uncover a fucking diamond in Dave Challinor (him of the long throw), 2nd in the league, going for 2 successive promotions? Can we dream?

mikey
I haven't been to a non-league game for a couple of years but my team has always been Bromley. Used to watch them regularly in the Ryman Division 1 South, when they were staring relegation to the Kent League in the face. Now they're flying high in the Conference South and I don't get down there. Strange stuff. Â Been to Bromley many a time with Carshalton Athletic (have family who have worked for or been involved with the club for about 40 years). The thing I remember is the worst car park EVER! That bloody great hole in the ground the second you get in to the place is a shocker! Â Also when I was in my teens I moved to Yorkshire and went to see Frickley Athletic as they played just down the road. Not bad and pre-season was always fun with games against Rotherham when Shaun Goater played there. Â The ground has improved considerably but the car park is still a mess. I used to like the dodgy little clubhouse. Now it's all a bit too civilised.

Happens all over the place. I've been to Birmingham and West Brom and away fans have been directed down a seperate route to avoid home fans. Quarter of a mile later and out you come into all the home fans. What a waste of time. Â Pity about the trouble at Chorley but that attendance is phenomonal. Chester averaging about 2000-2500 for home games is incredible too in what amounts to the 8th tier. Thing is though, Chester don't get much more of that in league football, which contributed to the problems in the first place.

I know it seems a bit silly, but with all the trouble that seems to be happening down LW these days it's not really a surprise. However, it does just seem to be the big games when the knobends turn up and start trouble. I do wonder why it all seems to have happened since the ground move, because you'd probably say LW is in a better part of town than Manor Park was, yet from my experiences at MP, from around 1997 until it got demolished very rarely anything happened, when we getting bigger crowds and playing bigger teams. Were you there for the Hereford game that was probably in about 2000 or 2001? That was mental, but it seemed to me as a kid it was all their lot doing it. Then the 'riots' at the Kettering game a few years later, but that wasn't really much to do with the football, just some locals looking for a fight.  But Neale's wise with his money (aka tight), so he probably knows its cheaper to segregate these games than pay for a visible police presence, which is what I think we really need. Cos the stewards don't seem interested in much more than telling the kids to stop standing down the front being the ad boards.

alexander
Actually, you're allowed to take your drink out onto the terrace if you get a plastic cup now. I'm sure I remember reading that we'd bought a new sort of license? I never bother though. Â I think you're definitely right about their being more trouble since the move to Liberty Way, although it's still not that bad. It's probably middle class kids from the better off part of town who only turn up every now and again that are causing the aggro - people who've been going for years know better. Still, it's a bit sad that over the last couple of seasons there's been some problems, we used to have a pretty spotless reputation. Â Yep, remember the Hereford game (although I seem to think it was 2002/03 season) that was pretty serious by non-league standards. Oh, and most of the Kettering trouble was Cov fans! alexander
Telford/Alfreton is a big game we could REALLY do with Alfreton losing. We're top, Alfreton are second, 8 points behind. Which sounds great until you realise they also have 8 games in hand...

Awards Moderator Frankie Crisp Posted February 22, 2011 Awards Moderator Share Posted February 22, 2011 I go to watch Prescot Cables quite a bit as they're only 5 minutes away from where I live. They play in the Evo-Stick League too and are a good little club with a decent local following. I watched them against Liverpool Reserves a couple of weeks ago in the cup - they played pretty well but lost 2-1. Â Their ground backs on to Knowsley Safari Park. So if you fancy an amazing day out, you know where to come... Â Â No Way!! Â Valerie Park is approx 2 mins from my house! A fellow Prescot boy? Who'd have guessed?! Bloody hell! I'm from West Derby originally but now just by the Huyton/Prescot roundabouts so not far from you at all. Small world eh? Do you get down to watch Cables much?
