It was at Preston Guild. They have an event every 20 years so everyone turns out for it, never seen so many people. It was just a happy accident that guy wandered in front while I was getting a shot and i managed to get it.

Took this too:

Ah. Never seen eels that look like that, just seen the black ones. Ugly little buggers.

Some wonderful pics on this thread and although i'm not a 'in to' photography as such (general basic point and click), I do enjoy taking pics.

Here's a few of animals:

I've been changing my approach lately with my colour photography. Instead of high contrast, I've been going for low contrast, high saturation, and letting the strong shadows give the impression of high contrast. It takes a bit more work, but I'm happier with the colours and detail.

This is all from one exposure too, there's no HDR processing going on.

And some other bits and bobs I've taken lately.

A few I took in years gone by. Nothing special compared to the above, but quite powerful:

So.

I've been doing my first "big project" with the camera. I had my brother's wedding recently and took shitloads of photos and am now going through them and picking out the decent ones and starting to edit.

The whole process has been a really good learning experience. Firstly actually taking so many pictures in different settings and whatnot over the weekend has taught me how to better use the camera. Then picking through them is teaching me which ones I thought were good at the time are shit when you look at them big, and more importantly I'm realising why they're shit. And thn also the editing is teaching me about how to edit different types of photos.

So, I have a question about editing. I'm getting to grasp with the tight portraits and wider landscapes but there's that area of photos in between where there's a bit going on and I want to capture it all and present it well that is a bit complicated and I'm struggling.

Any good tips? Surf, or anyone else?

If anyone is so kind as to help me out then I'll promise not to bore you with wedding photos of my family that I've been editing.

Cheers!
