It looked like a work - I don't actually think it was one. Ever see anyone get taken down from a lunge though?

Yeah, a guy who doesn't practice much takedown defence because his knees are fucked. Kimbo has arthritis is his knees, he can hardly walk properly never mind sprawl to avoid any kind of takedown.

He didn't even attempt underhooks either. He just went down as Ken lunged at him. Pathetic effort from both really. But fuck it - I watched it so it worked.

It was pathetic, but I'm not sure what anyone really expected from a guy who's 51 years old and aside from beating a guy with a 31-54 record, and a guy who died of a heart attack at age 32 with a 6-10 record last beat anyone even remotely worth knowing about 11 years ago. Kimbo isn't much better. Take away his shitey Youtube backyard fights and his cool beard and he's done pretty much fuck all in the sport either, making his debut at 33 years old before being hammered by a half-arsed Roy Nelson and "winning" possibly the worst fight in UFC history over Houston Alexander. Talk about altitude? It looked like both these chumps were fighting on the fucking moon.

It was a freakshow attraction designed to get eyeballs on the Bellator promotion, and it likely worked. The rest of the card was solid, which is really what mattered.

Regardless of how shit both of them are they have really over achieved in how much cash they've managed to get out of MMA. Shamrock was past his prime fighting Tito 13 years ago yet he's still managing to headline a televised card ( he also gets bonus points for drawing his 2002 sideburns back on)

Kimbo has managed to keep getting paid despite being immediately exposed as a one trick pony.

Oh and looking at Shamrock there's no way he's passing a drugs test.

I actually found it pretty entertaining whilst it lasted...i'll be honest, when Ken had the choke locked on i was thinking 'work' myself, mainly down to the fact that he got there so easily...however, what happened after that leads me to believe that Ken simply didn't have it locked in and he lost the position, he said himself he rushed it. Kimbo hit Ken with solid shots getting up, they wern't wild haymakers, they were shot hards punches and everyone knows Kimbo has heavy hands, just natural punching power.

It wasn't the all-out farce i was expecting, and the crowd were well into it.

The rest of the show was really good too, couple of standout performances from two Bellator-grown stars, a wild comeback in the title fight, Lashley doing his thing (but not being very exciting with it). Bellator's announcement for their next big show (the actual announcement was terrible) once again highlights that they want to put together shows that have something for everyone, i'm all for it.

go watch it again, Kimbo did attempt underhooks...the first takedown he was inside tripped as he was trying to get an underhook with his right arm...plus he was was being pushed backwards as Ken tripped him.

The second takedown was weak, but Ken grabbed a single, lifted Kimbo's leg and took him down off balance. They were both weak ass looking shots though.

I thought it was a fun show, overall. The main event was a shambles, but as David typed, you expected that going in. The fight was genuinely exciting when Shamrock went for the choke. I didn't think it was predetermined, rather that's the state of both men in 2015 - which clearly isn't very good.

Yeah, maybe I should watch it again. I just remember how bad it looked - like, really weak ass stuff all round. Both takedowns (the first was telegraphed but Kimbo did defend - it was a trip a few secs later, and the 2nd takedown Kimbo basically lifted his leg up & handed it to him - but both were soooo slow!!) + the choke attempt; which looked fully locked on.

So what does everyone think Bellator do with Kimbo next? He's apparently sticking around.

Notorious bare knuckle fighter/pro boxer Bobby Gunn was at the show and i asking to fight Kimbo. He posted on facebook that it had had been agreed that Kimbo would fight him in one of those sanction bare knuckle fights. Can't see that happening whilst Bellator have interest in him though.

I spoiled this for myself. I thought it was happening on Saturday night and, like a twat, saw the results everywhere yesterday. Only just watched it now.

I didn't think it was a work myself. I just genuinely think that's all those two have left in 2015. For what it was it was fairly entertaining. Kimbo looked like he didn't even bother training for it though. He looked well porky. The finishing punch was rough to watch knowing Ken shouldn't be in there. Hopefully he'll leave it now but I doubt it.

Kimbo, fuck knows. I like him but I don't know what else they can do with him really. Fights like this are alright now and then but you don't really want to milk it too much. You can only really put Kimbo in with old relics anyway. There's not much point putting him in there with anyone young and good. And who do they have left for him to fight? Someone like Kongo would ruin him. It wouldn't even be interesting.

Is James Toney still up for doing more MMA? Kimbo vs Toney would be hilarious.

I only know him as the chap who got blown away in a round by Enzo Maccarinelli on ITV.  A fight between him and Kimbo would be pushing the novelty factor a little too far, even for Bellator.

If Tito loses his next fight, maybe they will set up Kimbo vs Tito for early next year.

The impression i got was that Gunn wanted to fight Kimbo in an actual bare knuckle fight, dont think it was Bellator related.

Any thoughts on the rest of the actual show?

Bobby Lashley is a bit of a weird case, he was utterly dominant, he slammed Charles all over the place but it's never very exciting. Still i think the title in Bellator is very winnable for him, i think its time to stop fannying about with him and through him there with Minakov.

He's confirmed that he has arthritis in his knees, so I doubt running and other cardio-related training is on the agenda during a fight camp. He's just coming in looking to blast fools early.
