Paid Members Egg Shen Posted May 20, 2015 Author Paid Members Posted May 20, 2015 Bellator 187 was a bit of a mixed bag, if you just tuned in for the main card you probably left a bit disappointed, but the prelims were excellent. Enjoying watch Brandon Halsey fight, he's raw and has a limited skillset but there can't be many stronger middleweights in MMA, dude's a specimen. Grove tried but Halsey simply powered out of anything he attempted from the bottom. Dantas/Richman was probably the fight most peope would have said would be FOTN, it didn't deliver and neither guy looked great. Dantas will likely get a shot at his belt next though given the back-story with Galvao. The prelms were where the fun was, Virgil Zwicker, Joe Taimanglo & Ricky Rainey all scored big KO's. ...and Julio Cesar Neves Jr didn't live up to the hype. Jimmy Smith said it best when he said 'numbers mean nothing in MMA on a record, it's all about names'. Neves Jr. is a prospect no doubt, but the 30-0 didn't mean squat. There's a lot of young Brazilians coming out with these insane records. Quote

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted May 20, 2015 Author Paid Members Posted May 20, 2015 late response Dave Mainly cause Askren looked pretty lousy until the ending, i know the fight only went 2:19 but Santos giving Askren fits whilst it lasted. The eye-poke was unfortunate and part of me does think Santos may have looked for a way out due to him blowing his load a little. I'm fairly certain Askren would have finally got Santos down and rode him out if the fight had continued, i just think it exposed Askren a little. I'm game for the rematch though, nice to see it develop a little rivalry. That's what Askren needs whilst fighting outside of the big shows. Quote

I'll definitely be watching the WSOF show and the Glory show...i might take in RFA too, i keep meaning to watch their shows but they always seem to fall on a weekend when there's tons of shit on. You'll see some of the most skilled fighters in the World using a grand mix of vicious technical striking, with some mental Bruce Lee moves thrown in (when certain fighters are on the card). Quote

Couple of killer finishes and, in the end, a great performance by Rico Verhoeven in the main event, to retain him World Heavyweight title. Adegubyi looked really good in the first round, but didn't half fade as the fight went on. Quote
