In Lance Palmer i think the WSOF have a genuine world class featherweight, he's a Team Alpha Male guy so he obviously is mixing with top guys all the time, i'm not sure how long the WSOF can keep that guy because i think it'll get to the point where he's just blowing through guys with ease. Decent slugfest in the heavyweight title fight too, Blagoi Ivanov has now held the Bellator and WSOF heavyweight titles, again not sure what kind of division the WSOF has to keep the challenges coming and he has little fan-fair but Ivanov is a solid fighter... Hakeem Dawdu is a prospect too, nasty as shit muay thai. 5-0 with 5 KO's, keep an eye on him. Quote

Rebney would hang on to fighters and use every loophole in their contract to tie them up in legal red tape. He'd fight every point in the fine print of the contract to stop guys leaving Bellator, even if it wasn't really worth the fight or legal costs. Getting out of the Mafia seemed easier than getting out of a Rebney contract. But WSOF seem to go too far in the other direction to me. If someone wants to leave, they just let them walk. I get that they can't compete with the UFC but it's like they've got no balls at all and just roll over. They let Andrei Arlovski go. They let Anthony Johnson go. Now they've let their reigning strawweight champion Jessica Aguilar sign with the UFC (although they really didn't have much of a 115 division anyway). Josh Burkman jumped to the UFC. I'm sure he still had fights left with WSOF. I'm surprised Marlon Moraes and Justin Gaethje haven't been swiped by the UFC yet, to be honest. I can see them jumping ship in the next year or so, regardless of whether they're holding WSOF gold or not. I don't really know what WSOF is. Don't get me wrong they put on some solid shows and I've enjoyed their product on the whole. But if you're a fighter in WSOF, what's the point staying when the owners don't seem to want to build an identity or fight, even just a little bit, to hold some kind of roster together. As soon as the Zuffa knock comes on the WSOF door, they just basically go 'yeah, take whoever you want.' I'm sure the UFC bung them a cheque as a token to compensate them a bit but they're never going to be any bigger than they are now if they don't build and/or keep a few regular faces around. Bellator had Eddie Alvarez having FOTY contenders as well as a few regulars like the Pitbulls, Curran etc. Strikeforce did an awesome job with their roster. I'm not even talking about the names like Fedor, Overeem or Rousey either. I mean the core group of regular 'faces of Strikeforce' they had like Nick Diaz, Gilbert Melendez, Cung Le, Josh Thomson etc. That lot were the backbone of Strikeforce for years. WSOF don't really have that. They have some really good prospects now, but if they just let the UFC come in and override their contracts and raid their best talent, what's the point of WSOF. It's not even like they're a feeder league, it feels like they're just the UFC's bitch. GLORY was good, Ebb. Worth a watch as always. Quote

You couldn't really put together a top 5 or 10 for each division its just random. I guess the structure works sort of like the UFC did around the time of when Zuffa took over. It is hard to establish rosters and shape when you're only 20 shows into a run. How they do financially though i have no idea. They announced that cross-promotion in Japan with Pancrase but seems to have been put on hold. Still, as a selection of fights its worth watching. They have Palhares/Shields on the next show, as well as the return of Tyrone Spong, should shine some eyes on the promotion. Quote

Zach Arnold of Fightopinion used to call the company a stalking horse for the UFC, were they sent the boring fighters like Fitch & Shields and took the guys like Arlovski & Anthony Johnson who are both now top 10. fighters They have stopped letting guys jump to the UFC mid contract but I don't think they bother with right to match contracts and have looked like they have cut their fight budget recently. Nice lead in for the UFC if you're planning on watching live: given the way Spike run the live shows i have no real idea of what fights will air, probably get 2-3 fights on the broadcast though. I bet Coker & Spike are praying the NBA's Golden State Warriors win the playoffs tonight in game 6 and there isn't a game 7 on Friday, that will really hurt Bellators ratings as the final game would go head to head and feature probably the biggest name in US sports in LeBron James. There's a time and a place for the odd freakshow in MMA. The time is now considering we rarely see them since Japanese MMA died off. And Bellator is the place. I'd rather see two big names who are way past-it have a fight that will probably be short and quite hilarious, than some of the white noise prelims we see on the lower end of some UFC cards these days. I don't care how silly this might sound to some but I'd much rather watch Kimbo vs Ken, even in 2015, than anything involving the likes of Ryan Bader, Myles Jury or a big chunk of the forgettable fucks who make up a lot of the undercards in the UFC now. Kimbo vs Shamrock is a bit of fun that we all should've got a laugh out of back in 2008. Seven years in the making! I genuinely can't wait. Kimbo via Shamrock taking a dive. Quote

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted June 16, 2015 Author Paid Members Posted June 16, 2015 there's very few fights where i have an instand mental picture of how i think a fight will play out in it's entirety, but i have one for Ken/Kimbo... Basically, i think they come out and circle for roughly two minutes, Ken staying well out of range. Ken's gonna take a half hearted shot around the 2 minute mark, Kimbo will snuff but maybe fall in the process, but he'll be back on his feet before Ken can take advantage. They'll circle again, Kimbo will hit Ken with a solid jab, Ken will back off but then lunge in to strike, Kimbo will counter with a grazing shot, Ken will hit the deck, turtle up and it's all she wrote. Boo's rain down. The rest of the card outside of the main event is well worth tuning in for regardless of your thoughts on the main event. Quote
