Keith Houchen
Does whoever wins cry at the end? SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read They both "win", one in the human sense, one in the victory sense. Â Â You could honestly play Rocky Bingo to it, it ticks all the boxes. Nick Nolte is superb as Mickey though.
drew4primeminister
Yeah, I agree about Rourke, he did have an aura about him. Did his guy have a Superhero Villain name? If they said it, I didn't catch it. Â He's supposed to be Whiplash. But a lot of modern superhero movies don't seem to be in the habit of assigning titles any more - I suppose it's because, in real life, who's responsible for assigning them? Â I'm reading a biography of Rourke at the moment in which he refers to his character's role as Whiplash. He also went over to Russia and visited a prison there apparently for his role in Iron Man 2. I didn't realise he took to researching his roles so stringently but have always been a fan of his and am still, to this day, gutted he didn't get the Oscar for The Wrestler but he has that film to thank for getting his career back on track - even if he didn't get paid for it alledgedly
Steve Justice
The Lincoln Lawyer. Recently read the book and enjoyed it, so thought I'd give the film a go. Some aspects of the film are just not explained well, and unless you read the book you probably will be left wondering who certain characters are and why certain things happen. They completely fucked up the ending and had they stuck to the book it would have made for better and more exciting viewing. My biggest gripe though is Matthew McConaughey who plays the lead role. Now in the book the character that he plays, Mickey Haller, does come across as a bit self involved, but overall he's a pretty decent fella. In the film, he's an unlikeable prick from start to finish. A very poor delivery overall. I give it 4 out of 10. It would have got 3 out of 10 but Marisa Tomei is in it and I want to have sex with her.

I really enjoyed The Lincoln Lawyer, never read the book though but i thought the film was class and McConaughey was fantastic! The soundtrack is fucking boss too.  Anyway, I went to see Sinister last night and it was pretty decent-ish. There is a really tense mood going on with a few class scares then it all sort of falls apart towards the end and it turns out really disappointing. The home movies are probably the best part and maybe the most chilling. Ethan Hawke is also really good.  I also spent ages trying to figure out where I recognised Deputy So and So from, turns out he was Ziggy in The Wire. Guess it's how you interpret him in the books though.  I loved the book and the film obviously the book goes really in depth into the trial which for many reasons the film couldn't do. drew4primeminister
Had the Bond channel on since Friday, amongst others i've watched Casino Royale 3 times and Quantum of Solace twice. Then i watched Layer Cake for the first time, i do believe i'm starting to warm to Daniel Craig. Layer Cake was particularly enjoyable, i can see why it got him the Bond job. Got the Indiana Jones Bluray boxset today so that'll be next on the list to go through.   Totally agree with you. It dawned on me (whilst watching trailer for Skyfall) just how good Daniel Craig is. Imho he and Sean Connery are up there as my favourites - Craig has brought a hardness and intensity to the role, looking forward to the new one
drew4primeminister
Warrior As predictable and saccharine as a Coldplay album but a lot more enjoyable. File under the category "Fluff".  Good film - they copped out with the ending though
drew4primeminister
Went to see Looper last night - it was a good film, as opposed to a great film - but it didn't blow me away.
King Pitcos
Just watched Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. I read the script earlier this year, and liked it more than the film. That's surely in large part down to already knowing all the twists and turns. I didn't really buy any of it. The apocalypse, the riots, the romance between the two leads. Still cried at the end though.

EdgarTheSlouch
Went to see Perks Of Being A Wallflower last night.Liked it. Emma Watson didnt annoy me - Ezra Miller impresses me with every new thing I see him in and even a bt of Paul Rudd and Joan Cusack (looking well old). Loads more they should have included from the book tho

Its set up well but seems to skip a part so the ending doesnt really work. I also didnt know if i was jumping at certain scares because of a well put together story, or because the music goes quiet before having a very very loud bang. Merzbow
I'm currently watching April from Parks and Recs The Movie aka Safety Not Guaranteed, it's looking to be pretty decent but Aubrey is playing the exact same character at times.
