Paid Members LaGoosh Posted October 16, 2012 Paid Members Posted October 16, 2012 Yeah that kid has been a stunt man for years ever since. He kicks the shit out of The Rock in Welcome To The Jungle.
Richie Freebird Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Glen or Glenda (1953). Ed Wood, what a mentalist. He certainly believed and poured his very odd heart into these bizarre movies of his though, didn
Richie Freebird Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Just watched Bloody New Year (1987). A cheesy British horror, and a complete bag of shite. The best part was that there was a super gorgeous lass in it (Nikki Brooks) who I was sure I
Paid Members Carbomb Posted October 16, 2012 Paid Members Posted October 16, 2012 I thought you liked film shite, Richie?

Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted October 17, 2012 Paid Members Posted October 17, 2012 Richie, if you like vintage horror then I would recommend some of Jacques Tourneur's early stuff like I Walked With A Zombie and Cat People. It's not monster stuff and it's quite slow but I think you would quite like them because even those Universal films are quite slow paced for the most part. I Walked With A Zombie is a masterpiece.
Loki Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Probably got talked about a lot when it came out here, but I've finally got round to watching Crazy Heart. I know it's no Leaving Las Vegas, but as a portrayal of the damage that acloholism can do I found it heartwrenching. The scene where Bridges' character loses the 4 year old kid in the shopping centre was just awful, awful. Bridges completely deserved his Oscar, this was a belly-out, vomit-up performance that took him to all the worse places, but he also captured the charisma and talent of the guy too. Great score as well, great tunes and the gigs all felt realistic. Generally it was a great film, but there was.... something missing, I don't know what. I tell you something though, it managed to make Maggie Gyllenhall look attractive, which is a first.
Paid Members chokeout Posted October 17, 2012 Paid Members Posted October 17, 2012 Check out both of the films mentioned above Richie. Cat People is just stunning. Then, if you want boobs, you can go and watch the rubbish remake which is full of funbags. Also check out Night Of The Demon which is beautifully made and only let down by its shitty monster effects

Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted October 17, 2012 Paid Members Posted October 17, 2012 (edited) Yeah, Nastassja Kinski's constant nudity in the remake is its definite saving grace. EDIT - Richie: http://veehd.com/video/4647468_I-Walked-wi...Zombie-1943-avi The Old Dark House is fantastic, I love that. Edited October 17, 2012 by Gladstone Small

Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted October 17, 2012 Paid Members Posted October 17, 2012 I think it's fantastic. It's not a 'proper' horror film, I guess, but I think the atmosphere of it is absolutely stunning. Tourneur is a master of creating threat in his films without you seeing much at all. You may like Cat People better, Richie. Saw Pontypool tonight. I thought The Loved Ones would be the best horror film I watch this month but I may be wrong because this was at least as good. It was absolutely terrific. It's not really a zombie film and I'm not exactly sure what it is at times, but it was utterly excellent. Somebody put Stephen McHattie in more stuff. And send Georgina Reilly round to my place, pronto.

Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted October 17, 2012 Paid Members Posted October 17, 2012 I just ignored it, really, it didn't make any sense to me at all.

Must have switched off too early. I thought it was an excellent film. It would work as a stage play too. It was well acted and they created a great sense of impending doom.
