That's gotta be bait..

On topic, the MAC in Birmingham is showing 1981's Possession for Halloween. I've seen it in the cinema before but it's my favourite film ever so any time I get the chance I have to take it, it's just a masterpiece that keaves you close to a panic attack with how raw the emotions are, not just in the subway scene either.

I hope this is the start of getting more untouched Gotham characters in the world instead of the select minority we've had till now....... don't get me wrong I love the joker but it's been done to death now I'd like a break and give a real spotlight on say the riddler who's such a great character and advisory of the dark Knights who again hasn't been shown or delved into bar Jim Carey's showing in forever.

They will NEVER do another Riddler after Jim Carey, I GARENTEEE IT.

I think you could be right but how stupid that is for such a fantastic character that has so much depth and substance.

Don't get me wrong I love all the batman films including that one but they used the riddler as a in your face irritant instead of the intelligent and menace for the dark Knight as he actually is throughout history

Taiki Waititi hasn't taken kindly to his new film bombing and getting battered by critics;

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2026/nov/02/taika-waititi-lambasts-critics-after-klara-and-the-sun-box-office-disaster?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-gb

What a load of bollocks.

He gives it the 'I haven't read a review for 15 years but critics hate my films' spiel - how would you know if you don't read reviews, you big liar?

Also you can't blame a bad box-office showing on critics. How do you explain the countless films that get ripped apart critically every year but do big numbers, if that's your argument?

I really liked Hunt For The Wilderpeople and quite liked Jojo Rabbit too, but I've always found him to be a really tiresome overexposed personality. Plus Thor: Love And Thunder was a load of shite.

Hunt For The Wilderpeople and Boy are both great, but his entire schtick has grown so tired and Next Goal Wins is terrible because of it.

He's incredibly irritating.

Really enjoy the weekly emails that Sight and Sound send through, always an interesting read, so if you haven't subbed, you can do so here: https://www.bfi.org.uk/sight-and-sound/weekly-film-bulletin

Edit: I really enjoyed Klara and the Sun, and so did my eldest, so it's disappointing to hear the film is shit.

He may be the least funny person on the planet. The epitome of the modern Hollywood "ramble endlessl ironic unfunny improv shite" style of comedy which has ruined modern comedies.

The film is okay, and Jenna Ortega is great in it, but it’s not on the level of the book.

Waititi has made films I’ve loved - What We Do In The Shadows, Hunt For The Wilderpeople - but he’s gone majorly off the boil since he went A List, and while ten years ago I’d have gone to a film because it was one of his, with Klara I went despite that and purely because I loved the book. Found him quite irritating on interviews I’ve heard as well, probably from Thor Ragnarok onwards - quite dismissive of various things in a way that felt abrasive and entitled rather than charming. Love And Thunder was rubbish, but remember he did a video mocking and laughing at its VFX?

I’m glad he doesn’t appear to be getting a Star War anymore, I don’t think I’d have enjoyed that at all.

Anyway, the Klara And The Sun film is okay, but you’re better off reading the book.

Im surprised it was made to be honest, as even though its not one of those ones that are "unfilmable" it is a fairly internal looking read and doesn't exactly scream adaptation. I'll watch it at some point though.

My main issue with it was that, for me, one of the joys of the book is the figuring out all the things that aren’t explained and eventually working out what they mean and what’s going on without it being fed to you. In the film, they just explain it all outright, straight away. Part of that’s maybe the necessities of a visual medium, but other Ishiguro adaptations (Never Let Me Go, Remains of the Day) manage it really well, so maybe it’s just handled badly.
