CTXRussomark Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 That's incredible. I remember being absolutely amazed when I found out most wrestlers do their own facepaint because I always assumed they had some make-up person that did it for them.
Mr Butternut Squash Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Misawa, Kawada & Kobashi vs Jumbo Tsuruta, Akira Taue & Masa Fuchi My word. Never has 54 minutes of wrestling flown by so quickly. Astounding match.
Mr Butternut Squash Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I feel I should clarify that I've been watching loads of 80s/early 90s All Japan recently and have a feel for all the feuds that are beautifully tied together in that match. You have Taue/Kawada who are fresh off of one of the most hate filled brawls in the companies history and are straining at the leash to kill each other. You have Jumbo who is still feeling grumpy for being pinned by the relativity young upstart Misawa, and is using increasingly dickish tactics to get the advantage in his matches. There's terminal bastard Fuchi who's more than willing to add fuel to the fire. Kobashi's there being the best face in peril I've seen. All the little stories that their previous encounters told play a part in how this orgasmic thing plays out, yet it can still be enjoyed without any previous knowledge. Love it.
huss Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Apologies if this is a duplicate, couldn't see it in the thread - WWE have put up a very cool time-lapse video of Dustin putting on the current Darth Maul-inspired Goldust paint: As a man who struggles a bit with that kind of hand-eye coordination, painting on your own face & head with that kind of accuracy astounds me. Also, no wonder he got that mask when he was working shitty indies every night. Fuck doing that AND wrestling for a pittance. any pics/footage of that? i've not been able to find any
NEWM Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Fu-cking hell. This went on Youtube a year ago so I might have missed it doing the big rounds, but it's a match from early-00s I'd guess, a good few years before Candido died, between him and The Sandman. Tammy's looking on her way to plus-sized but not there yet. Anyhow, it's a living breathing pissed up indie shambles, the type of which DDP is trying to end forever with his goodwill and hard work. Candido and Sunny come out ARSEHOLED, Candido cuts a promo on some locals including AJ Styles I think, beats them up with spectacularly bad offence, all still wearing his trackies and a t-shirt because "they lost his ring gear". Sunny is fucking blitzed out of her mind just standing around flicking her piss wet through hair back trying to look sexy (I think? Fuck knows what she's doing. She is proper, proper gone). Sandman finally comes out, does his big drunk entrance but falls off a host of chairs he tries to walk on, soaks two oldish birds in the front row with beer who really don't want to have that happen to them, just acts all pissed up and stumbles around as usual, but this video makes it look bleaker than when he does it in ECW. Anyhow, the match is diabolical, obviously, and towards the end Sunny carks it, gets carried out for a bit, then somehow zombies herself back out for an end spot where Sandman DDT's her on a guardrail, even though she's already out for the count when he's holding her in the position for it. I'm not even sure how she ended up back at ringside. I know it all follows form for these three, but it's still something to behold. Amazing only Candido is actually dead out of this lot so far, and even then it wasn't the booze and pills that actually did it. What a grim shower of shit this all is. Wrestling will take people and well and truly fuck them up if they're not careful - this entire thing is about as far away from the modern day vision of nice shiny telly that WWE produces.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted October 30, 2013 Paid Members Posted October 30, 2013 Was that the show where Sunny berated Low Ki for not giving his chair up for her fat arse to sit on, so he threw it at her? Or was that just one in the list of times Candido and Sunny turned up arse holed for shows. What a disgrace that lot are. Sort a harsh reality that Candido got himself sorted and then died off complications following a leg break.
Paid Members DCW Posted October 31, 2013 Paid Members Posted October 31, 2013 Jesus that's grim. Sunny looks like one of those birds who hang around methadone clinics trying to sell their dose for valium, and Candido is so fucked up he can barely move. Sandman looks like a pioneer compared to those two.
Stylin_and_Profilin Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Christ thats grim. Someone in the front row even shouts out "Hey you can't even walk straight !" to Sunny who turns round and slurs out "Yessssss i ccccaaaaannn"
Paid Members Thunderplex Posted October 31, 2013 Paid Members Posted October 31, 2013 I've kicked poeple out of my office for being less pissed than that. Very, very sad.
Magnum Milano Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Vic Grimes vs Erin O Grady from a Raw TV Taping in early 1998. Great little match with some insane dives. Cheers for that, it's one match I'd wanted to see for years The tryout was actually for Grimes and he handpicked O'Grady as his opponent for it and O'Grady then got a deal purely off the back of his performance in that match.

That reminds me of Graham Norton winning an award for Best Host/Presenter when he spent a week hosting The Jack Docherty Show when JD was on holiday. A bit of a sore one for JD, particularly since he was also in the running for the award.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted October 31, 2013 Paid Members Posted October 31, 2013 Grimes got hired as well, though, didn't he?
Ant Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Apologies if he did - I thought he hadn't. Or at least he never made it beyond the training farm.
Paid Members Statto Posted October 31, 2013 Paid Members Posted October 31, 2013 He did - a very brief run as Droz's drug dealer, Key. Part of the gimmick was that he dressed all in white, dyed his hair white also. A wrestling urban legend has it that when he turned up for the debut of the gimmick he wasn't fully prepared for the "white" aspect, so turned up with black boots. Instead, they sent him out wearing a pair of white wedding shoes that another member of the roster who was roughly his size happened to have. Long story short, leather soles on wedding shoes ----> slipping off the ropes ----> release in pretty short order. Although I think he was still under WWF contract officially when he first pitched up in ECW with The Baldies.
King Pitcos Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Episode one of Jericho's webseries: It's not bad, as web sitcoms go.
