Paid Members Jazzy G Posted yesterday at 08:10 AM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 08:10 AM When I first moved to Manchester we kept really weird hours and would often head across to the big Sport City Asda to get the shopping done at 2am. The times they do their Autism/sensory friendly quieter music, dimmer lights thing are nonsense as well. Why can't they have one that isn't 9am on a Monday? 8 hours ago, Devon Malcolm said: Glow in the dark seat and row numbers / letters in cinemas so people rolling in late don't blind me with their fucking phone torches looking for where they're sitting. A running order to show roughly how long the adverts/trailers are as well? Not necessarily to avoid the trailers but to better organise when you can meet people afterwards. Quote

Paid Members mim731 Posted yesterday at 08:53 AM Paid Members Posted yesterday at 08:53 AM (edited) Fireworks should only be sold by specialist retailers, and operated only by professionals, or at least someone has had to do some very basic training on how to use them. They are exploding projectiles, and as much fun as they can be they are also very dangerous in the wrong hands. Another thing (yes I can hear it) is job application forms should not require you to submit both a CV and manually fill in forms with your experience. The information is the same, this is a waste of everyone's time. 43 minutes ago, Jazzy G said: A running order to show roughly how long the adverts/trailers are as well? This reminds me, another thing would be that the title card at the start of the film at the cinema with the BBFC info should also have the running time included. It's a small thing, but it would make it far easier to know how long is left of the film if you haven't checked beforehand. Edited yesterday at 08:54 AM by mim731 Extra info/reply Quote

They're only supposed to be sold in the two weeks leading to bonfire night, but there are obviously places that don't do that, or a lot of stock piling going on. I totally agree with you. 28 minutes ago, mim731 said: This reminds me, another thing would be that the title card at the start of the film at the cinema with the BBFC info should also have the running time included. When I bought my ticket to see Street Fighter this coming Saturday morning the cinema's website (Reel) did have a little end time listed as well, which was nice. Quote

Some streaming platforms have a counter telling you how long the ads are - if we have to suffer ads then at least you know whether you have time to get a drink or not. Having this in the cinema would be great. Pop your head in - still 18 minutes to go, fine I'll get a coffee. It perversely might make more money in concessions. When people ask that "what would you do if you win the lottery?" I always answer "I'd open a small cinema" and I would definitely implement this scheme. Quote

They can be sold anywhere during the window for bonfire night, NYE, diwali, and Chinese new year. And licensed shops are allowed to sell them year round. Quote

There are quite a few primary school kids in my area who whizz about on them, some with helmets, some without and it makes driving quite scary. I've had to slam the brakes on a number of times when a child has zoomed out of a blind junction without paying any attention to what might be coming their way. They go so fast on pavements with them, if they were to hit a younger child or pensioner it would surely result in serious injury. While some people definitely don't give a shit, I suspect there is a staggering lack of awareness when it comes to the laws surrounding these things. Quote

The issue is that they are illegal but available to buy easily. Everyone is waiting for the government to properly legislate them one way or the other. There's no framework for police and councils to enforce and blanket prohibition is never a helpful solution. Quote
