thatvinylgeek Posted April 10 Posted April 10 This might have been posted in another thread so apologies if so, but Triple Helmsley was on Cody's podcast...I'm just going in to see if I can last. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znC6s9yaMOA Quote

Paid Members Supremo Posted April 10 Paid Members Posted April 10 (edited) The one clip I’ve seen of Hunter on Cody’s podcast is him complaining that people don’t realise how difficult scripting the shows are. He wishes it was as easy as fans think it is. He can get in the bin. The very reason he finds it so hard is that he and his cronies have completely lost sight of how easy it should be. They make it ten times harder for themselves by thinking everything has to be a wanky, deep-in-the-bubble worked shoot. Instead of writing basic, surface level storylines everything has got to be cross referenced against Wikipedia and Wrestling Observer archives to find enough lines to make nine people in the crowd go, “OoooOoohhH!” Cody vs. Randy is the perfect example. Everyone is complaining about Pat McAfee over-complicating what should have been a simple, basic storyline about former stable mates, with the pupil surpassing the mentor and jealousy destroying a multi-decade friendship. And that’s all well and good, but let’s not pretend the train wasn’t already off the tracks long before Pat began re-adjusting his sunglasses. The two shows previous had Cody making dreadful references to him having to babysit Randy and stop him choking to death when he was pilled up on long drives between towns, and then the next show he and Stephanie were having a weird, nonsensical argument over who was more like their Dad. TKO being the new nWo may have added another layer of unnecessary wank on top of the storyline, but we were already about three levels deep. Has anyone on-screen even mentioned that Cody and Randy were in a stable called Legacy together? Have they aired a single clip of the two years worth of Randy giving the belt a cheeky, jealous glance? With it being Wrestlemania season, I rewatched this amazing package to build up Undertaker vs. Shawn 2 at Wrestlemania 26. Belter. A simple storyline you can consume, follow and invest in by simply watching the show. The best. Book this feud in 2026, with this current crop scripting it, and they’d abandon all this in favour of Taker making a shitty insider reference about taping his hands in Gorilla in order to scare Shawn into dropping the belt at Mania 14. Stunningly accurate, this. Quote

I've still never seen a better rumble elimination than Shawn's fingers scrambling for the top ropes, gets me every time! Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Yeah they'd make some wank comment about The Kliq holding down Bret too or some shit. Hogan vs HBK had one or two shoot insider comments but I put that down to HBK having a wobbler that had to put over Terry. Quote

Poor bloke couldn't get out of there fast enough. To be fair they probably brought up a storyline where someone discovers the world is round and full of gay people. Quote

In my head that created the image that gay people are inside the earths surface … like mole men but with way better decor. Quote

Paid Members LaGoosh Posted April 14 Paid Members Posted April 14 Creating backups is literally the bookers job, absolutely useless cretin this bloke. You'd think a guy who was essentially a back up main eventer for a good portion of his career would know that! Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted April 14 Paid Members Posted April 14 He also just listed four main eventers that can back each other up. If LeBron James is injured they don't bring on a clone of him. Quote
