Fog Dude Posted February 18 Author Posted February 18 Eight results went into the first post on Sunday, with a ninth following last night after the hasty abandonment and rearrangement of the tie at Montrose due to a serious injury to a visiting player. Compare and contrast with the fixture in the men's competition a few months ago that took weeks to complete! Clearly it wasn't a Scottish problem, just a male one. The other match's guesses are lost completely to the weather - or perhaps more accurately to the terrible drainage system at Vale Park, considering that a further game in Stoke-on-Trent went ahead the same weekend. Anyway, that extra outcome made very little difference to the table, yielding only one additional point for ultimo and nothing for anybody else, but he was then the only player not to claim his D2D bonuses. Again no movement, but Vegeta's big lead is cut by one more point at least. At the other end, it really does look all over as Chutney Spoon was top scorer and I was worst performer, the only participant not into double figures and who failed to get at least one exact scoreline. If it weren't for the FPL Cup and my second D2D turn next month, I'd be tempted to recuse myself from the competition for the remainder of the season and let the rest of you fight it out. Oh, and he did get a bonus point for the tie at Blundell Park in the end... but so did everybody else, since it wasn't for predicting extra time (there wasn't any) but for getting the correct result. Match #3 in Cleethorpes was randomly selected as the "wildcard" fixture, though it was pretty pointless except to get the already high average up, as the 0-1 score proved elusive. What caused that high mean score, then? Well, favourites winning in a round full of knockout games, basically. Gooner got his D2D bet wrong, but made up for it by being the sole person to think Brum v Leeds would go all the way to penalties. The other game on the continent was also a home win, which also caught some people out. Late change to the next set of 10 as somebody's D2D has been put back a week. I'll explain all next time so as not to give him a week's notice about his next turn and thus an unfair advantage. That means a slightly less exotic card than expected will go live in the original post in a few minutes. Quote

Fog Dude Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 The final scores were up in the initial post on Sunday night, and despite some tough-to-guess outcomes, there was actual movement in the table for the first time in what feels like ages. Stinky Dad slipped back down into fourth below a resurgent ultimo, but it was TildeGuy who pipped the latter to best performer status as the only participant into double figures, and in turn closed the gap on Vegeta to seven points. Meanwhile I just slipped even further behind Chutney Spoon, which feels inevitable every week at this point. One of the reasons for that was the second injury time Alexis "Mac Allister" McAllister goal being wrongly awarded (after his first had been correctly disallowed) at The City Ground, which cost me a bonus point and caused everybody else to be awarded one instead. That's because the randomly selected "wildcard" fixture was match #6 in West Bridgford, where Liverpool got away with a poor display to snatch victory right at the death. Elsewhere, wins for Charlton women, Man City and Arsenal generally proved fruitful, alongside a draw at Stratford Olympic Park. The Scottish women's outcome and the Spanish match turned out more of a mixed bag of bets, while score draws at Villa Park and Stamford Bridge plus a rare away triumph for Brighton caught a lot of people out. Right, long-winded explanation coming up as to why one player's D2D didn't happen this round but it taking place this coming weekend, should appear in the opening post in just a tick. Quote
