The results went into the opening post on Sunday night, and I remembered to draw a wildcard game at random shortly after that. Nobody got the exact score from match #4 at The City Ground, but 6 of the 9 participants did at least claim a bonus point each by guessing the right outcome. The last person to make their picks this time out, Stinky Dad, is our early leader as the only player to get more than one exact score and the sole predictor into double figures so far.

The chasing pack, which features reigning champion ultimo the great, are just a point behind, then there's quite a bit of a gap to the early bottom 3, which includes myself, on 4 points apiece. Wins for Spurs, Arsenal, Aberdeen, Motherwell and Hoffenheim all proved fruitful but a last-gasp equaliser for Fulham at the AmEx cost a lot of people points, while an opening-day triumph for Sunderland also turned out slightly harder to foresee.

An upset in Cottbus and the Coppa tie in Cremona going to a shootout also caught most players out. The average weekly score was 7.11 recurring.

Let's focus most of this update on housekeeping instead: as mentioned, the defending champion has joined us and everybody who's DMed me took part this week. Two people who haven't yet done so also jumped in, and although I'm not into name-and-shame mode yet, Rory confessed that he's among them so I'm sure he won't mind me pointing that out.

I'm going to set a hard deadline of September the 17th (i.e. the day the card for Week 6 is due to go up) for valid D2D entries, which is more generous than usual.

There's very little overlap between choices these days, but I'm inclined to reject some of the more awkward picks so a minimum of 3 teams still feels like the way to stick with. If you want to go properly obscure, then please provide a reliable source as to where I can find their fixtures well in advance, else I'll have to start putting restrictions on what leagues can be chosen again.
