The final scores were already due to go up quite late this week, then the match in Marseille was delayed by almost a day, so it was eventually updated alongside the table on Monday night. In line with long-standing policy on postponed or abandoned games which are played to completion within 72 hours, all picks for that fixture are valid and allowed to stand.

At the other end of the scale, I should've probably pointed out that we didn't include the Merseyside derby because it was an early start. And I also hold my hands up and say I forgot that the Scottish (and English and Welsh) League Cup is already into Round 3 even though it's still only September. As it turns out, that competition saw the randomly selected "wildcard" tie this week, for which MVP RULZ nabbed all the bonus points for himself as the only participant to get the 0-4 scoreline spot on at Firhill.

Anyway, despite that Gooner managed to pick late but luckily only missed two matches and so avoided being the worst performer, a dubious honour shared by Vegeta and Chutney Spoon instead this time out. Without bonuses, defending champion ultimo and leader Stinky Dad would've been joint top scorer, albeit both in single figures.

The complexion of the standings changed deep into injury time, while I stared at a Google search for the Paraguayan game after The Women's Football Show (which should just be merged into MOTD2 at this point, but that's by the by) was over, close to 1am UK time it suddenly flashed up as 0-1. And with that, it went from Rory gifting everyone else two extra points to him getting 16 more and moving level with the lead, behind only on fewer exact scores.

Back closer to home, draws at Brighton, Arsenal and PSV all generally proved fruitful, with victory for Roma and another score draw at The Stadium of Light ending up as more of a mixed bag of guesses. Success for Palace and the aforementioned Marseille, on the other hand, turned out a little tougher to foresee.

The results went into the opening post on Sunday night, but before I link to the table and do the standard round-up, there are a few bits of housekeeping to take care of. I should've covered some of these last week, but I was in the middle of a hectic visit from my Dad & stepmother so was relieved just to get any update out more or less on time at all.

First, we've got all the D2D stats in now: of the 27 teams chosen, 10 are from England, 2 from other home nations, 9 from elsewhere in Europe and 6 from further afield. Four are national teams while 23 are club sides, of whom 16 play in their country's top division and 7 below it. Three are women's teams as opposed to 24 men's teams, with the only female national side being a third pick so likely won't be used. The more exotic choices have already taken us to Paraguay this season, with the less tropical but still unusual destination of Luxembourg coming up next.

Secondly, the draw for the FPL pool phase has been made. I considered trying to do it Champions League-style (also the new Scottish Challenge Cup format) with one big group, since there are fewer considerations like home/away balance and staggered kick-off times for different markets, but just couldn't make it work with an odd number of participants, so we've gone for the old-fashioned three groups of three (similar to the Scottish League Cup but smaller) instead. Seeding was based on performance last season, so despite Stinky Dad dominating the contest so far this campaign, he was actually pulled out of the lowest pot.

Last but not least, our once-reliable image-hosting website imgur stopped serving IP addresses in the UK yesterday, blaming the hassle caused by Online Safety Act regulations, and even if I could be arsed to faff around with a VPN it wouldn't be fair to ask you all to do the same. I've scrabbled around for a free alternative and very hastily found imgbox but if anybody knows of a better place then please do let me know. When I first took over running this, Photobucket was the sharing platform of choice and they still e-mail me every few days asking me to pay to reactive that account - but no dice, of course.

Right, onto normal business. The randomly selected "wildcard" fixture was match #7 at St James's on Sunday, with the last-gasp Arsenal winner earning four people two bonus points each, among them top scorers MVP RULZ and TildeGuy who thus make it into double figures and who both move up a place at the expense of Vegeta in the round's only movement. Rory was the worst performer but has just enough of a cushion from last week's D2D bonuses to keep him in second spot for the moment, while the gap of four points between myself and Gooner at the other end remains the same.

Among the other outcomes, victories for Man City, Villa and Leverkusen plus a score draw at Elland Road generally proved fruitful, but success for Brighton, Palace, Sunderland and the purple (technically violet) half of Vienna caught a lot of people off guard. Unsurprisingly nobody foresaw ten goals at Gladbach, with the away side going 6-0 up before being pegged back somewhat. As mentioned above, a new set of 10 including a D2D should go live in the first post very soon.
