Fog Dude Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 The results went into the opening post on Sunday night and... to be honest, there weren't many scorelines to note. In between a double round and a "bumper" one, we've somehow ended up with a half-week. We lost five games to the weather, including one as high up as The Championship where a fair few fixtures were controversially called off at short notice. Obviously none rescheduled for this week, so I'm afraid all those guesses are void. As I've mentioned, I try to plan these weeks in advance, but perhaps I should've looked at the weather forecast and switched the round to a standard 8 Premier League + 2 abroad card instead of a "holiday season" docket full of the lower divisions. Unfortunately I was typing the New Year's Eve update from my auntie's sofa so it wasn't ideal circumstances to make any last-minute changes. I've been back at my place since Friday (pointlessly, since almost every in-person thing's been off due to snow) so could potentially show more initiative if inclement conditions are expected again over the next couple of months. === All that having been said, if you multiply the average score by two it actually works out to quite a high-scoring round. In the table, the only movement is at the very top and very bottom as best performer MVP RULZ moves straight back out of last place at Chutney Spoon's expense. Meanwhile we have a new leader in the shape of Vegeta, overtaking joint lowest scorers Tilde and ultimo by the narrowest possible margin. From the handful of games that went ahead, victories for similar sides Wycombe and Barcelona proved particularly fruitful. The former eventually became the "wildcard" game after the randomiser spat out a postponed match three times before my doofus brain eventually just asked for a number between 1 and 5 and the outcome at Adams Park was retroactively re-ordered as #4. Four people got an extra point each for betting on a home win. Elsewhere, score draws at Elland Road and Eastlands (with big managerial changes either side of those) plus another reverse for Cov all turned out slightly tougher to foresee. === Sorry also for the delay in this round-up itself. I was trying to get this out there just before The Traitors but then the forum suddenly went down. Luckily there's a full programme of EPL matches tonight so I doubt anybody will have wanted to put their picks in before 10pm anyway. Anyway, on that note, the next set of 15 should be up at the top of the thread in short order. Quote

So you might as well have had a go regardless. If they're called off a second time then everybody's guesses will indeed be void after all. Quote

Fog Dude Posted January 14 Author Posted January 14 Well, we got 15 final scores in the end, somehow. Most were put into the first post on Sunday, with the delayed two joining them last night. If I'd known we were gonna stick around until Tuesday we could've included some cup ties from Spain and Italy too! Never mind that now though, we've got an updated table as well with the only movement seeing me sink back to the bottom since Chutney Spoon was top scorer and I only narrowly avoided being worst performer ahead of Rory who contrived to manage zero exact scorelines. At the other end, Vegeta goes properly into the lead by an actual point over TildeGuy instead of just being level and ahead on most three-pointers. No "wildcard" this week due to the unusual (and indeed, odd) number of matches, and no D2D yet either. Even though we're into the second half of the campaign I've still got a couple more of those to finalise before we start everyone's second turns. Wins for the Brewers, Saints, Bees, Blues [Brum], the other Blues, Lilywhites, Gunners and Shrimpers all proved fruitful alongside eventual progress for the favourites in France and Scotland, though about half of those were way more emphatic than anybody expected. I find that one-sided games make you appreciate the upsets even more though. Away victories for Villa and Brighton, on the other hand, caught a few people out, while the ridiculous result at Aggborough yesterday evening understandably floored everybody. The only match to go all the way to pens was at St James's Park which almost caused a dud, so special mention to Gooner for betting on a draw there, meaning he thought it would go the distance. It's the women's turn this coming weekend, but that'll be either side of some men's league matches in the next set of 10, which is due to go live in the original post in just a tick. Quote
