theringmaster Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 Watched the first episode this morning and thought it was a brilliant little watch, really remined me of the glory days of NXT. Real nice little video package of Evolve history also. The short package before Keanu Carver sold me on him straight away, I don't how true it all is but I was instantly emotionally invested. Two huge thumbs from me. Quote
Ro_y Disco Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 I downloaded Tubi yesterday but can't see it on there. Is this US only? Quote

Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted March 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 6, 2025 Give Keanu Carver the world title. I've seen enough. Jack Cartwheel can fuck off for his name alone. Swipe Right is a great gimmick and has loads of comedy potential. Dani Palmer looked really good in the opener and it's cool they let her wrestle in what she probably wore to Nando's before taping. As I turned it on while Dynamite was at commercial, they had this (and the clip isn't on Youtube so apologies for linking to the hellscape) Spoiler Now, I saw the last minute of a match and that segment so far, I do plan to watch it properly but thats all I have seen. But I thought that was one of the worst performed backstage segments I've seen in a long time, and it was taped, not live. Poorly acted, badly scripted. Like an even more shite version of the Mean Street Possie. I am shocked this made it to air. I know it's developmental, so I know it's not going to be polished, but if that was the best take, how bad were the others? I am glad there is a crowd at least. I know its really sparse, but I was worried it was just going to be in an empty warehouse which would have been a rough watch. Any matches I should be looking out for from this episode? Quote

They're playing it exactly the way it should be played, it's a developmental show and nobody should ever expect good acting from wrestlers. WWE isn't for you and I don't know why you keep watching its programming. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 I mean I've not seen the show but presumably they're meant to be annoying? Bit like young frat guy types or something. Quote
DavidB6937 Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 Double post but yeah I'll definitely be watching this later and regularly. I really enjoyed early NXT where it genuinely was developmental, same with FCW and stuff like that. Where they'd try gimmicks out and let people get actual experience and not be afraid to fail. As for being surprised if something reached TV - let's not forget we live in a world where Becky Lynch went out and did an Irish jig and then ended up as the most over woman in the industry. Let them try stuff. Let them be crap on the mic. Let them learn the ropes. I don't need every single show to be full of the finished article. I love following people for years and their journeys and seeing them main event Mania knowing where they came from. While NXT has a development aspect to it, Evolve is clearly going to be the entry level. Quote

Paid Members JLM Posted March 6, 2025 Paid Members Posted March 6, 2025 (edited) I will miss Jack Cartwheel from ROH TV. Sometimes you think you’ve seen all the ways he can shoehorn cartwheels into pro wrestling but he still has more. If they want a new name for him they could make him a French street mime and call him Jaques Cartouille. Wouldn’t need to worry about promos then. Edited March 6, 2025 by JLM Quote

WWE isn't for you and I don't know why you keep watching its programming. The gimmick of frat boys or the sort isn’t a bad one. I just think on a pre recorded show they have the luxury of different takes. You’re right you don’t expect perfection, but I had expected better. As to why I watched, I used to catch Evolve back in the day. It was a decent product for the size, and I always like Indy wrestling, so regardless that it’s under the WWE umbrella, I’m still going to check it out, especially as it’s so accessible. If I don’t enjoy it, it won’t become a staple of my weekly viewing. But surely it’s better to watch and know if it’s enjoyable then to automatically assume? Also, whilst lots of WWE doesn’t work for me, there are wrestlers I like who I enjoy watching. Quote
