DavidB6937 Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Time to have a think.. can't believe its this time again already though ?
Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted December 11, 2024 Awards Moderator Posted December 11, 2024 (edited) THE GOOD Best Women's Wrestler Timeless Toni Storm - we haven't seen her since August and she's been missed. Absolute highlight of AEW in the first half of the year. Willow Nightingale - she's just the best. Jordynne Grace Roxanne Perez Best Men's Wrestler Will Ospreay - I was never hugely fussed about Ospreay but since he joined AEW properly I've fully converted. His Assassin’s Creed entrance at Wembley made him feel like an absolute megastar - it was just thrilling. Swerve Strickland - deservedly champion for a good chunk of the year and carried himself like it. Bryan Danielson - I can do without the paralysis-selling but in all other aspects he remains one of the best ever. Sami Zayn - seems to have been the glue keeping WWE together once again. Samoa Joe Best Tag Team Sting & Darby Allin - even though it was only for the first bit of the year. Young Bucks - never been a massive fan but they've been mostly great this year MxM Collection - they're just loads of fun. Best British Wrestler - British Wrestler in any promotion, not just UK-based Will Ospreay - see above Drew McIntyre - the better half of one of WWE's highlight feuds Pac Joe Hendry Best Non-wrestler Prince Nana Nigel McGuinness Lexy Nair Best Event All In London - probably a better show than last year's. That Casino Gauntlet was so much fun live. Sting came back! The Final Countdown! That Assassin’s Creed entrance for Ospreay! Even the pre-show gave us the Iron Claw. Brilliant fun. Best Wrestling Show Best Feud or Angle Hangman vs Swerve - electric, magic, something special every time these two were together. Sting's Retirement The Bloodline Funniest Moment Timeless Toni Storm generally - press conferences, commentary, silent movies, promos Mark Briscoe's first 'conglomeration' promo - seemed to genuinely take everyone by surprise and made everyone smile Harley Cameron promos generally MxM backstage promos generally Best Heel Dirty Dominik Mysterio Christian Cage Best Babyface Bryan Danielson Mark Briscoe - so likeable he managed to make Kyle O'Reilly interesting Willow Nightingale Jeff Jarrett The Conglomeration Best Digital Content (previously Best Podcast) Wrestle Me Moment of the Year Mariah May turns on Timeless Toni Storm Bryan Danielson wins the AEW World Title at Wembley Cody Rhodes wins the WWE Title at WrestleMania Match of the Year Will Ospreay vs Bryan Danielson - AEW Dynasty Bryan Danielson vs Swerve Strickland - All In London Sting & Darby Allin vs Young Bucks - AEW Revolution Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk - WWE Hell In A Cell - made the Cell match meaningful again. Samoa Joe vs Hook - AEW Dynamite 17/01 Sixth honourable mention to the Casino Gauntlet Match from All In London. Promo of the Year – can be an individual promo or a two-person back and forth but please be specific i.e. show and date Hangman Page - "they chose him!" - Collision 06/07 Daddy Magic - "somebody call his mother, somebody call my wife!" - Dynamite 04/07 post-show Jeff Jarrett - Owen Hart cup - Collision, 22/06 Breakout Star Jacob Fatu Konosuke Takeshita Bron Breakker Kyle Fletcher Liv Morgan THE BAD Biggest Letdown Mercedes Mone in AEW - I blame the worst entrance music ever created, but she's never felt like the gamechanger she maybe might have been. Cody Rhodes gifts his WrestleMania title shot to The Rock - they turned it around but do not forget how let down everybody felt when this happened! The 'Death Riders' angle - it's been a few months and it might get better but it's not been great so far has it? AEW cancels Meat Madness - WHERE IS MY MEAT MADNESS TONY. AEW airs the Punk/Perry footage - petty and pointless. Worst Wrestler Chris Jericho - the vortex is real Jacked Jameson - why is he on main AEW TV ever Worst Non-wrestler Samantha Irvin - I know a lot of people like her but I just couldn’t get on board, any WWE show I watched I had to skip the entrances and post-match announcements Worst Match Worst Event Worst TV Show Edited December 31, 2024 by HarmonicGenerator

AEW has had loads of great ideas this year, and without fail it’s squandered almost all of them. It’s such shame, and the year’s biggest letdown for me. Okada Best Heel Hangman Page Best Babyface Sting, Danielson, Ospreay, Willow Nightingale, Daniel Garcia Best Digital Content (previously Best Podcast) Hey(ew)! Moment of the Year Sting retirement, Danielson winning the title, Hangman burns down Swerve's childhood home, Mariah May turns on Toni Storm, Nigel McGuinness at Casino Gauntlet. Match of the Year Danielson vs Swerve, Willow vs Statlander All Out, Danielson vs Ospreay, Sting/Darby vs Young Bucks, Casino Gauntlet All In Breakout Star Jeff Jarrett, ain't he great? THE BAD Biggest Letdown Just AEW generally - it should be the best wrestling company of all time but they constantly shoot themselves in the foot, and, hearing how good WWE is then watching 3 episodes and half a PLE and it being the shittest thing ever and making me doubt my fellow posters sanity. Worst Wrestler Chris Jericho, Britt Baker, Adam Cole Worst Non-wrestler Wade Barrett Edited December 13, 2024 by LaGoosh
Paid Members RedTwoster Posted December 13, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) I completely forgot about the Casino Gauntlet @LaGoosh - that’s definitely one of my matches of the year, it was so much fun. I almost feel like we need a ‘most underwhelming wrestler’ category this year to give the likes of Ricochet, Carmello Hayes and Jack Perry the love they deserve! They’re probably not bad enough for the worst wrestler category (although I did nominate Perry myself), they can’t be letdowns because you know what you’re getting with them, but their consistent mediocrity deserves recognition, I feel. Awards Moderator HarmonicGenerator Posted December 13, 2024 Awards Moderator Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) I considered the Casino Gauntlet for MOTY as well because it was just so, so much fun. I think I said at the time it’s the closest I’ll ever get to how a Royal Rumble should feel. I can’t actually remember anything about what happened in between each entrant arriving though, so Hook vs Joe’s taken my fifth spot instead. …. can I have six nominations for MOTY? I’m just reliving All In and that Gauntlet was SO MUCH FUN. Edited December 14, 2024 by HarmonicGenerator
