Abusive people have victims. Racists have victims. Those victims are real people. The "well, he was always nice to me" cliché is stupid. How often have we heard genuine nastiness being dressed up as ‘just banter’, particularly if there is a level of wit to it. So while I feel sorry for his family, if this guy affected you negatively, I feel sorry for you too and think you have every right to share how you feel, particularly if the guy was prone to bigotry. As it stands, being spoken badly of after they pass is hardly the worst thing a person can experience if they said and did shitty things. Rod Liddle just passed. He got a well-deserved shoeing online, because he was an awful person who said awful things which influenced other people to be awful like him. He also most likely slagged off plenty of people who died. Also, this is a forum. Not a wake or a funeral parlour. (Also, I think Godwin's Law is bullshit.) Quote
