Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted Monday at 01:13 PM Paid Members Share Posted Monday at 01:13 PM The universe takes away the joy of ETH as Man U manager this morning but it did jail Tommy Robinson for 18 months so balance is restored. Sphinx Posted yesterday at 09:26 AM Share Posted yesterday at 09:26 AM I don't understand Man U fans being disappointed Ten Hag's gone and that he should have been given more time. At no point when I've watched them have I thought it's just a matter of time before it clicks. There's no good plan for how they want to play. That they won the FA Cup was very much the exception - they beat Coventry on pens after blowing a 3-0 lead (again) to get to the final. The plan was rubbish. It was the same every week. Very sad to see him go.

I was definitely in favour of them giving him time - with the absolute state the club was in behind the scenes, it would have made any manager look bad, and it made sense to keep him on until Ratcliffe had the re-build under way. Also, he'd done well with Ajax, so he couldn't have suddenly become shit overnight - at the time, it seemed that the major difference between his time at Ajax and at United was that he had Marc Overmars as his director of football in addition to having a full club setup. That includes scouts, whilst he had pretty much nothing in place at United; at least, that was the justification given for him signing so many Ajax players. Still, at least it means they can ditch that Temu Adama Traore and woman-beating cunt Antony. Not sure who's available who can do a job for United now. With the state the club's in, I don't imagine Zidane would be interested or affordable. Emery only does well at clubs with "villa" in the name. Xavi? He's used to rebuilding. And I can imagine there's an argument for bringing Ole back in - see what he can do with a proper setup.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted 23 hours ago Author Paid Members Share Posted 23 hours ago It looks like they're putting themselves in the exact same situation they did with Solskjaer. In comes a club legend (van Nistelrooy) who all the fans will be on the side of as interim despite a lack of experience and, if he does well, the clamour for him to stay on will be impossible to ignore. Until it all goes tits up. Also, whether ten Hag did or didn't do a good or bad job - he's been treated like shit by the new set-up. Openly shopping round for a new coach, realising there wasn't anybody they fancied available, and then saying "Oh we'll back our boy then!" only to boot him out after more poor recruiting. I just hope Amorim has sense and stays where he is. United will ruin him and he seems a good sort.

Bookies have Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as huge favourite now and press reports they are in talks. Seems a very good manager but its a big step up. Paid Members Carbomb Posted 21 hours ago Paid Members Share Posted 21 hours ago Of course he was. Obviously we don't know what happened behind the scenes, as personalities and working ethos/method comes into play, but it was one of the things about ETH that I thought was a bit foolish early on, if the reports about him not wanting to work with Rangnick were true. Even if they were that fundamentally different in character, having an experienced and successful director of football to work with was better than none at all. Members SuperBacon
The (possibly apocryphal) tale goes that Daniel Levy met with ETH, who let's not forget was pretty much number one target for Spurs at the time, and was so put off by him and his oddness, he decided not to move ahead with him as an option. And he's hired some right nobs! Its been described as a car crash of an interview, and thankfully a bullet dodged. I honestly don't know what the answer is with United, I wouldn't have a clue where to begin, its such a mess. Getting rid of fucking Antony would be a good start though. Worst signing ever? Paid Members Carbomb Posted 19 hours ago Paid Members Share Posted 19 hours ago Worst United signing, certainly. Just watch ten Hag go on to win a ton with, I don't know, fucking PSG or something.
