Paid Members Duke Posted June 16 Paid Members Share Posted June 16 (edited) @d-d-d-dAz, is it sports marketing you work in? I know this is literally your specialist area, but I can't remember exactly what type of work you do. (Just giving you the option to remind people just who the hell you are, as they say) Edited June 16 by Duke

Of course and as someone who watches AEW I obviously have forgotten what storylines are* Spoiler Allegedly @d-d-d-dAz I’m not saying TV rights aren’t important but Vince always saw TV as a 2 hour infomercial to promote live shows and PPV. Now that’s possibly due to TV deals being worth way more now then they ever used to be, but didn’t Wrestlemania make $20m during that weekend? They make huge money, and without TV they would probably slowly fizzle out which is what killed WCW and ECW among others before, and it wasn’t just the loss of the tv money that caused that. I believe they actually make a loss on their live events and only run them because the talent like them and it gives the less experienced wrestlers some less pressured ring time. wordsfromlee
Didn't WWE make more money during lockdown where they did zero live shows than they ever had before?
Members SuperBacon
This all sounds suspiciously like ratings/tickets/revenue type talk. Stop it.

Snitsky's back acne
I do like the decibel thing until you look at 'What is the equivalent of 100db?' like I did and it goes 'A lawnmower' 'This crowd is as loud as a lawnmower!!' doesn't really sound THAT impressive. ? Previously Head of Marketing and Comms for the Oval/Surrey CCC, before that for Queensberry/Frank Warren... and before that for DAZN/Bellator in the States, and even before that Sky Sports. In essence I'm older than I'd like, but to the extent anyone can have a wheelhouse, this would probably be mine. Just to be clear, you can make millions on live events but spend millions putting it on. You can make billions on international TV deals. Live events are obviously important, and they want everyone to aspire to one day go to these huge events. But the content is king these days. Look at cricket, for example, they're literally trying to change the way the game is played specifically to appease the broadcaster and the new ways people consume content. It's a brave new world. And PAPA H is just trying to lead from the front. Edited June 16 by d-d-d-dAz

Events with noise levels over 96db the audience should be advised of the risk and offered hearing protection. 107db is the legal limit. If you work in a job that is over 85db then you must wear hearing protection.

Harry Wiseau
Well I wore I enjoyed it as I could watch it live with the kids, I was eating during the triple threat tag but Cody was fun and the Drew match was enjoyable enough, we clocked that it was Punk immediately but it was shot well so if you were more caught up in it you might not have noticed at first, makes sense for him not to win the title because it gives him more reason to be annoyed and him v Gunther at the Summer Slab wouldn't matter sense even though it'd be great fun. The worst bit for me was them spoiling the World's Strongest Man result. Every year I know it happens in May but I do everything I can to avoid the result. It's quite easy since I left Twitter and don't have Instagram or MySpace so I can normally make it till the Christmas holiday without it being spoilt, I let my guard down and watch a PLE on the network and it gets spoiled! I have six months to try and forget. Oh and I really liked Chelsea Greens interactions in the women's title match, she's ace. No idea of she's any good at wrestling but the few times I've seen her I've been entertained. Edited June 16 by Harry Wiseau Spoiled, not soiled.
