Members SuperBacon Posted July 30 Members Posted July 30 Boss Man vs The Mountie was my favourite match ever as a kid. Still absolutely superb, and everything is so over. Quote
Merzbow Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Even with the goofy sound effects done in post that cattle prod was bloody terrifying to a kid. Don't know why it didn't make anyone shit themselves though.. Quote

The Jailhouse Match is perfect WWF nonsense and Jacques Rougeau is incredible throughout all those segments. The pathetic tone of voice when they're dragging him into the jail going "You're hurting my arms, you're hurting my arms!" Quote

God i haven’t physically heard that in over 25 years probably but i can’t still remember exactly how his voice sounds as he was saying it. Quote

What about someone who got runs against Hogan at the beginning of peak Hulkamania, during peak WCW and at Ruthless Aggression era? They may also have been in a Wrestlemania match that, while not being in what is considered the start of Attitude era a year or two later, has to be considered one of the things that lead to the Attitude? John Tenta? Not sure how many would class his WCW showings as a run though.. Golga definitely counts though, I'll fight for that. Quote
Ironic Indie Lad Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) I was sitting in a garden centre having lunch with my daughter yesterday afternoon. Overheard a guy at another table talking about the Big Boss Man. I thought I was surely going mad and had misheard him. But no. He then started saying "How did they do it back in those days? Did they have to drive themselves from town to town? Did they provide their own costumes?". He quite quickly moved on to talking about Pizza Crunch Suppers after that ("it's just a cheap frozen pizza but deep fried but its so good!") so he is almost definitely someone who posts on here. Chico Torres Posted August 3 Posted August 3 My apologies, I’ll try and be a bit quieter at lunch going forward. Quote

Rossman Posted August 10 Posted August 10 I thought the Renegade/Rick Wilson episode was a good fit for the show. When wrestlers get thrown into positions they are not ready for. It's stupid to blame them if it doesn't work and for taking up the opportunity in the first place. Especially in this case, where WCW were falsely advertising that the "Ultimate Surprise" i.e. the Ultimate Warrior was coming. Whoever would come out at Uncensored 95 and it's not the The Ultimate Warrior. Would be on a hiding to nothing. A lot can be put on the booking, and there's always ways to get around problems. Maybe, get him training at the Power Plant to fill in the gaps. The promo shots from when he was dancing, he was a good looking guy and built. So they put face paint on him and put him in a singlet. From his 1995 debut to getting jobbed out in 1998. He became more generic after each appearance. He didn't look like the same person pre getting into the wrestling business. Those 3 years in the business chewed him up and spat him out. Quote
Paid Members gmoney Posted August 10 Paid Members Posted August 10 I can't remember what his physique was like when he debuted, but by late 96 he was absolutely nothing special build wise, I was quite shocked when he popped up on a Nitro I watched recently. He literally could have been anyone. Poor guy. Quote
davertfnewman Posted August 10 Posted August 10 He didn't look as good when he debuted with the steam in front of him and Hogan rambling on as he did when he was Rio working against Earthquake. A lot softer and just kinda slab muscles, not as defined. Quote
Chili Posted August 10 Posted August 10 (edited) He got into the party lifestyle a bit and wasn't looking after himself. I have absolutely no idea if he went to the Power Plant after the Warriors facsimile thing died out, it would have been a terrible decision if he didn't, regardless of reputation, it would have still been getting the reps in. I actually watched a fair few matches of him after that episode and whilst he had a raw deal starting out with an opportunity he couldn't have passed upon, he genuinely never seemed to improve ever from 1995 until they released him. It's a tragic story, but he was absolutely shockingly crap when you actually watch him and how he moves. He just really wasn't cut out for it, a bit of a Tom McGee. Edited August 10 by Chili Quote
Stylin_and_Profilin Posted August 10 Posted August 10 (edited) Dipping back in here after a long hiatus, mainly to this show catching my attention. Been pretty impressive something as niche as this got renewed for a second season but to be still going for seven whilst still churning out decent content is really impressive, even more so when i'm assuming anyone under WWE contract will be barred from contrubuting. Would love to see one on Haku; especially whilst he's still alive and reckon the whole Sting / Hogan Starrcade 1997 build up and fallout could have enough meat on the bones to get an episode. Still think it's pretty wild they gave the Jarrett / TNA thing three episodes, really stretched that one out a bit overkill. Edited August 10 by Stylin_and_Profilin Quote
