Having now seen Goodfellas, Chrissy thinking he’s getting Pesci’d is a nice touch.

There's a few nods. The ones I can think of are when he's getting ready to get his button, he says to Ade "You've watched too many movies" and then it cuts to hin looking absolutely handsome smoking in a suit next to his car, the same way we're introduced to an older Henry Hill, pretty much shot for shot.

And of course, him in the pastry shop with the

Spoiler

"You shot me in the foot" "It happens"

And the 4000 actors that are in both.

Just started Season 4. It’s just too good.

How much Big Mouth Billy Bass cracks everyone up had me in stitches. Gloria chucking a roast beef at Tony’s head is a classic moment too. Season 3 has so many classic bits.

Jackie Aprile Jr is a wet fart isn’t he? Don’t remember him being such a dimwit on my original watch.

Of course Tony was gonna be fine, he had Dr Green looking after him.

"He's Bobby Bobby (Bacala)?"

I always forget just how much Chris saying "Chinks did this?" kills me, and this time round I felt a lot more sympathy for Adriana.

Yes, she's complicit in everything by wanting to be around the lifestyle and knowing what goes on and enabling it, but she is one of the more innocent characters. The drive with Sil, and her daydreaming, is quite heartbreaking.

And although it gives us all lots of laughs and leads to some of the funnier moments in the show, the pivot to Vito as a major character in series 6 is brutal, as I just cannot stand him.

Vito gets my approval for a couple of three things. His silent assassin rank on the Jackie Aprile Jr stage, his relatable clock watching on the manual labour bit, and his absolutely shocking Johnny Cakes romance plot.

He’s a guilty pleasure.

Also his phone call to Ralphie to help him get out of a sit down with Paulie.

”I think I see a squirrel”

Edit: also the random inner monologue of him working in a shed telling himself to not look at his watch because he wanted to go to lunch, thinking he’d be done soon only to see he’d only been working for 2 minutes.

My favourite thing about Vito is him boasting about being a healthy man now he's dropped the weight, but still struggling to get around with the worst rickets I've ever seen. I don't think that is healthy mate.

On another note, I absolutely adore Artie, he might be my second favourite after John. Him shadowboxing after beating up Benny "Criminal mastermind" Fazio is the peak.

Vito eating shit obliterating that office chair is a highlight too.

Speaking of Artie I just started the episode with Jean Philippe. Answering machine broken?

“Two miles I walk, every day”. Whoa, a whole two miles? And nibbling on his fucking carrot sticks like a big camp hamster.

Classic.

Artie’s a character I appreciate more with every watch. He’s one of those that went under the radar slightly for me on my first watch, just because he was surrounded by bigger and more ridiculous characters. But he’s fucking great. One of my favourite scenes is when the restaurant is struggling and he goes on that rant at Tony because he suggests maybe doing a two for one deal. It’s a thing of beauty.

“Two-fers?”

Is that what they were? I thought they were small breadsticks and that was the captain of the good ship lollipop losing a bit of self control.

Is there a funnier single line in the entire run than Chrissy’s I DID-DENT?
I think one of the things that makes this such an easy rewatch is the “monster of the week” style format it has. Livia, Richie, Ralphie, Phil. They don’t stick around for long but it keeps everything constantly fresh and they all make such a big impression.

Excellent remix of Man with The Harmonica over the credits in the one where Ralphie gets offed.
