They go from watching footage in early seasons of Tony’s house laughing how his boiler is going to blow him up, to some dull terrorist division subplot, to “we’re gonna win this thing!”. They must have had no idea how to end the show with so many characters too because that last couple of seasons is a massacre of minor characters to dull things like strokes or hanging themselves. Not sure if it's the worst, but Vito is a pretty bad actor and the storyline is well beyond his capability. I really didn't like the Kevin Finnerty stuff the first time around, but on rewatch I changed my mind and thought it was decent. Quote

So all black criminals are stereotypically crack addicts and shit at what they do, there's a small picturesque town where all the firemen are sensitive gay lads so they can have a secret paradise for Vito to fuck up in. There's more examples, but I haven't watched in a while and they're not coming to mind. Quote

I forgot this was a Monday” makes me laugh for some reason. Chrissy’s ”He was gay, Gary Cooper?” is one of his most memorable quotes. And Tony with one of the great throwaway backhanded compliments/insults about Sil’s wife - “You got a smart kid at college. You got a wife who’s a piece of ass…or at least she was when you married her”. Quote

Just uninterrupted weirdness for minutes straight. I'll agree the Columbus Day episode is a low point, but I'm one of the few that enjoy Vito I think. Him constantly appearing out of nowhere despite being 300lbs and walking bad even by Matt Hardy standards always gets a pop from me, whether it's to assassinate Jackie Jr or to apprehend his arch nemesis Finnius Fogg. I think he also begins a downturn in the quality overall of the show though when he inexplicably throws away all of his newfound happiness, randomly murders some poor guy and then goes back home and gets beat to death with pool queues. I do get a dark laugh out of his kids reading about it in the newspaper though. "So he wasn't a secret agent?" ".....no" Edited October 23, 2025 by FLips Quote
