What if he wins the third fight though? Surely Volk would be entitled to an immediate rematch like Max got the first time around? Then we end up with them facing each other four or five times! Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted January 8, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted January 8, 2022 That’s the problem for me, the immediate rematch thing. I’m fine with rivalries going past the standard 3 fights if it’s warranted but I’m not a fan of immediate rematches at all unless it’s following a fight that went to a draw or had a controversial ending. I disagreed with them running Volk vs Max back the first time because there was zero controversy and Volk won that one clearly. That one really did feel like a case of the UFC not getting the result they wanted so they booked the rematch. It wasn’t necessary. And that’s the problem. If they hadn’t rushed into that second fight 6 months after the first, and the initial rematch was coming now after Max beat Kattar and Yair, I think not only would it have had more interest, I think it’d be a bigger fight as well because it would’ve given people the time to actually want it. Honestly, I don’t care if 2 guys fight 4 or 5 times for the title if there are gaps in between and the rematches are earned. And this one was earned. There’s nobody in the division right now today who’s outright above Holloway as far as deserving a title shot goes. People are talking about Chikadze and he probably has the best claim but although he’s on a 9 fight winning streak, his only real wins of note are his last 2 against Swanson and Barboza. Max’s wins over Kattar and Yair trump that and I think Chikadze could do with at least one more win before jumping in with Volkanovski. Who else is there? Zombie looks like he’s getting the shot and I’m happy with that but he’s 1-1 in his last 2. Ortega just lost to Volk, Yair just lost to Holloway, Zabit’s on a milk carton. I know it’s not ideal to keep giving the same challenger a shot at the same champion but the alternative is to just never give Max another crack at it no matter what he does or who he beats and fuck that. Regardless of the score line, Holloway’s still probably got the best chance of dethroning Volkanovski, for that reason it’s a more interesting fight than most of the other options. Doesn’t matter anyway now because you jinxed it and it fell apart.

I think I'm more cheesed off that Volk's title reign could end up being a demolition of Brian Ortega, and 11 close decision wins over Max fucking Holloway. This rematch is deserved, and if it was the second fight between them I'd likely think differently. Â Wikipedia says Special-rules fight with Rodtang Jitmuangnon On September 15, 2021, it was announced that Johnson would fight Rodtang Jitmuangnon, the reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion and considered by many to be the current best pound-for-pound Muay Thai fighter. The fight will be contested under special rules, with rounds 1 and 3 being fought under the ONE Muay Thai ruleset, and rounds 2 and 4 being fought under the ONE MMA ruleset.[84] However, due to the pandemic shutdowns, the event was rescheduled for ONE Championship: X on March 6, 2022.[85] Â
Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 13, 2022 Paid Members Share Posted January 13, 2022 Ah, I see! Interesting. Potential flaw, though, is that whoever's speciality goes first could get the win in short order, then we don't get to see what the specialist could've done in round 2. Still, kudos to them for trying something new.

If you have never seen it  Spoiler Aoki was a total cunt in the build up and in the first Kickboxing round did so much time wasting, your average Burnley defender would be proud. It was pathetic.  Then the second round starts, MMA rules so Aoki plans to goto work but he get flying knee KO'd within seconds. Its hilarious. Sadly not to be found on YouTube anymore or I would link.
