It’s still people putting money in that the club doesn’t have or generate to artificially inflate a clubs standing. Which is fine. "You lot stole the league" every Rovers fan heard that a million times at the time. We got the "where were you when you were shit" chanted at us by every other team in the league for two decades following the title win. TBH I don't think Jack Walker is particularly romanticised now outside our fanbase. More other teams realising it can be far worse with whole sports washing countries and criminal Russian obigarchs taking over teams since. I don't think its just a British fans hate all foreign owners thing either. Everyone seems to respect and like Leicesters owners and hate West Hams porn barons for example. Imagine buying the league for that now!  Living in Manchester I hear a fair few Utd fans complain about City’s wealth but in the next breath supporting Salford City.
